The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is requested to help Vietnam improve its ranking in the Global Innovation Index (GII), entering the global top 30. Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized at the opening session of the workshop announcing the Global Innovation Index (GII).
According to the Minister, in the trio of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation , the focus is on innovation. Innovation is only truly meaningful when it touches on practical problems in Vietnam, changing and solving social problems.
To be able to enter the world's top 30 in innovation in the next 5 to 10 years, Vietnam will persistently implement synchronous solutions, including four key priorities: perfecting institutions and environment for innovation, removing legal barriers and financial mechanisms, and encouraging businesses to invest in research, development and application of new technologies.
“If we do well in the four pillars, I believe that the current position on the rankings will continuously improve, but more importantly, creativity will become the true strength of the country, contributing to realizing the 2045 goal of a developed, creative and powerful Vietnam,” the Minister emphasized.
