No toll station if traffic jam occurs during Hung King holiday

To proactively ensure traffic order and safety, prevent traffic jams and accidents, on April 5, the Vietnam Road Administration sent a document to the Road Management Areas; Departments of Construction, enterprises, BOT project investors; Vietnam Expressway Corporation and toll collection service providers requesting to ensure traffic order and safety during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday in 2025.

Vietnam Road Administration commented: On Hung Kings' Commemoration Day in 2025, people will have 3 consecutive days off, so it is forecasted that traffic volume may increase.

To better serve the people's travel needs and ensure traffic order and safety during the holidays, the Vietnam Road Administration requires management units to regularly maintain the national highway system according to prescribed standards and criteria. Check the operation of ferry terminals, pontoon bridges, tunnels, and equipment to ensure stable and safe operation and exploitation.

The Vietnam Road Administration requires toll stations to have plans to increase the number of staff on duty; coordinate with the authorities to have plans to reasonably divide and regulate traffic; when necessary, open the station to handle traffic congestion according to regulations to limit congestion; clear points at risk of traffic congestion, especially at the gateways to and from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and major tourist destinations.

For businesses and investors in BOT projects, the Vietnam Road Administration requires implementing measures to ensure security and order at toll stations, especially on key traffic routes; having timely response measures when incidents and accidents occur; having plans to arrange human resources to coordinate with functional forces to organize and regulate traffic when congestion occurs.

In the document, the Department of Roads requested the project owner to construct essential works within the scope of traffic infrastructure protection to promptly restore the road surface and road construction components to ensure safe and convenient traffic.

For construction contractors, there must be a plan to arrange officers, employees, and workers to be on duty, guard, guide, and regulate traffic; ensure traffic order and safety at road construction investment projects, road repair and maintenance projects, and projects under construction on roads in operation.

Toll collection service providers are responsible for strengthening inspections, ensuring stable toll collection, arranging staff on duty 24/7, ensuring timely handling of situations and incidents (if any) at toll stations for road use services with automatic non-stop toll collection systems managed and operated by their units.

Road Management Areas, Departments of Construction, Department of Transport and Public Works of Ho Chi Minh City, BOT project enterprises, VEC organize hotlines to receive and promptly handle information and situations to ensure safe and smooth traffic and improve transportation quality, serving people best.
