In Group B, the representative from the world's women's volleyball powerhouse Italy had no difficulty in advancing. Next to Italy is Belgium. Similar to Italy in Group B is the case of Brazil in Group C. Brazil is also a world women's volleyball powerhouse. France entered the round of 16 with Brazil.
In Group D, another extremely strong team, the US, also qualified for the next round, along with Slovenia. In Group E, the two teams that qualified for the round of 16 were Türkiye and Canada.

In total, nine European teams made it to the round of 16, three Asian teams, three teams from North, Central America and the Caribbean, and one South American team made it to the knockout stage. In contrast, no African women's volleyball representative made it past the group stage.
