BTO-At about 22:30 on April 30, 2025, the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Thuan Provincial Police in coordination with the Ea Tam Ward Police, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province successfully arrested wanted suspect Le Nguyen Ngoc Lam (born in 1993, residing in Chanh Nghia Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province). Lam was arrested while hiding in a hotel in Ea Tam Ward after a long time of evading the law.

Previously, in September 2019, Lam rented a Ford Everest self-driving car from Ms. NTLH (residing in Thien Nghiep commune, Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province). However, after the rental contract ended in January 2020, Lam did not return the car but instead pawned it to Mr. NVQ in Quarter 3, Xuan An ward, Phan Thiet city for 250 million VND. After that, the subject cut off contact with the car owner and fled the residence.

After determining that the car was at Mr. NVQ's house thanks to the GPS device, Ms. H. reported the incident to the authorities. Through the investigation process, on September 7, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Thuan Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Le Nguyen Ngoc Lam for the act of "Abuse of trust to appropriate property". On December 4, 2024, an official wanted notice was issued because the subject did not cooperate and continued to flee. The verification process showed that Le Nguyen Ngoc Lam is a person with complex social relationships, frequently changes his place of residence, and uses many sophisticated tricks to deceive the authorities. In that situation, Binh Thuan Provincial Police established a special investigation project and deployed forces to search for the subject in many localities such as Binh Thuan, Phu Yen and Dak Lak.

On the night of April 30, 2025, the authorities discovered the suspect hiding in a hotel in Ea Tam Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province. The arrest was carried out quickly and effectively, ensuring absolute safety for the participating forces as well as local residents. The successful arrest of Le Nguyen Ngoc Lam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day is considered a feat of the Office of the Criminal Police Department.
