Convenient transportation is an advantage for the economic development of Phu Bai.

Expanding the scope of development

The merger of four administrative units (Phu Bai ward and the communes of Thuy Phu, Phu Son, and Duong Hoa of Huong Thuy town) has created favorable conditions for Phu Bai ward to have a wider development space with many potentials and advantages. The ward is home to the Phu Bai Industrial Park, one of the leading industrial parks in the city and the Central Vietnam economic region, contributing over 4,500 billion VND annually to the city's budget, equivalent to nearly 40% of the city's total budget revenue.

Phu Bai Industrial Park is the first concentrated industrial park to be developed early and effectively, making a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue city). The industrial park has complete technical infrastructure, many favorable conditions regarding transportation and labor, a wastewater treatment plant, bonded warehouses, and customs clearance locations to serve on-site import and export needs.

According to Le Van Cuong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Phu Bai Ward, the ward focuses on supporting and developing businesses, promoting the development of private and cooperative economies. Currently, the ward has over 300 non-state-owned enterprises, 4 cooperatives, 15 branches of banks and credit institutions, and more than 1,200 business households. These businesses and services provide employment for over 25,000 local workers, with an average monthly income of 7 million VND or more per worker.

Make good use of the advantages.

In 2025, despite many difficulties and challenges, Phu Bai ward has taken advantage of its strengths, effectively exploited its potential, and promoted socio-economic development, achieving positive results. The total value of products in the ward this year is estimated at approximately 33,129 billion VND, an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period last year. Thanks to key economic sectors creating breakthroughs, the average per capita income in the ward in 2025 is expected to reach over 76.3 million VND.

According to Mr. Le Van Cuong, the main pillars in Phu Bai's socio-economic development are the industrial, construction, trade, and service sectors. Industrial production this year continues to develop in the direction of diversifying advantageous industries in the area such as textiles, yarn, alcoholic beverage production, building materials, garment manufacturing, mechanical processing, finished wood processing, Frit glaze, etc.

Businesses and small-scale industrial production facilities have been and are being invested in with technical equipment to improve product quality, stabilize employment, increase income for workers, and contribute to maintaining overall growth of the local industrial sector. The ward has a support mechanism and collaborates with businesses in the industrial park to promote production and business development. Industrial parks and clusters are receiving investment attention, especially the Gilimex Industrial Park infrastructure construction and operation project in Phu Bai Industrial Park with a total investment of 2,614 billion VND…

Commercial and service activities continue to develop steadily, contributing to meeting consumer needs and improving the quality of life for the people. Major business sectors such as food services, transportation, construction materials, electricity, gas, and petroleum products are developing relatively strongly. In 2025, the ward will regularly coordinate with relevant agencies to effectively address violations related to business operations, environmental sanitation, fire prevention and control, etc., creating favorable conditions to support businesses and production facilities with procedures, ensuring security and order, and a clean environment so that businesses and service establishments can operate with peace of mind.

Freight and passenger transport services have developed rapidly and diversified, meeting the needs for travel, goods circulation, socio-economic development, and ensuring local security and defense. Banking activities in the ward have also developed strongly, meeting the needs of residents for deposit and loan transactions, creating conditions for economic development and increased income. The total value of products and services is estimated at 1,628 billion VND, accounting for 4.92% of the total.
