The task force of the Ha Tien International Border Gate Border Guard Station introduces the border line and national boundary markers to the people in the area under its responsibility.
Practical self-governance models
Recognizing that the masses are the eyes and ears, and the foundation of the all-people national defense posture, the Border Guard of An Giang province has proactively coordinated closely with local Party committees and authorities to implement diverse forms of propaganda suitable to the specific characteristics of each border and island area.
Through community meetings, community activities, and the work of self-governing groups, the authorities help people gain a deeper understanding of territorial sovereignty , as well as the responsibility of each citizen in maintaining the peace of the nation.
The image of officers and soldiers implementing the "four together" principle (eating together, living together, working together, and speaking the ethnic language together) has become extremely familiar to the people. Thanks to this persistent commitment, the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on border management are conveyed in a relatable way, helping people not only understand the regulations but also enhance their vigilance, promptly detecting and reporting any signs of law violations to the authorities.
Colonel Nguyen Van Hiep, Political Commissar of the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command, emphasized that one of the outstanding achievements is the successful establishment of self-governing groups for border lines, boundary markers, and safe boat and ship operations. To date, this network has developed strongly with 37 groups and 308 members participating in protecting national border markers.
The self-governing models at the grassroots level have achieved impressive numbers, with 557 groups and over 17,000 members protecting the security of hamlets and villages. The participation of 8 motorbike taxi groups in combating smuggling and 24 safe boat groups with 506 vessels in special zones, seas, and islands has created a tight surveillance network from the mainland to the open sea.
As local people with close family ties in the border region, these members operate extremely effectively. They both work and produce to ensure their income, while also acting as people's scouts in crime prevention, resource protection, and guiding tourists at ports and tourist areas, creating a widespread border defense network.

The Nhon Hoi Border Guard Command mobilized the Cham ethnic minority people to participate in maintaining security and order in the hamlets and villages.
Strengthening the bond between the military and the people.
In reality, where the people participate, border management is most effective. The people are the living markers protecting every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland. To strengthen trust and further solidify this close, blood-related relationship, border guard posts in An Giang not only conduct patrols but also actively participate in helping people develop the economy and reduce poverty.
Many humanitarian programs have been effectively implemented, such as providing seedlings and livestock; guiding sustainable farming techniques; and assisting people in building and repairing houses and essential public facilities. In addition, the regular organization of free medical examinations, treatment, and medication distribution has significantly contributed to healthcare and stabilizing the lives of ethnic minorities in remote areas.

Officers from the Nam Du Border Guard Station participated in collecting fishing gear while simultaneously educating fishermen on complying with legal regulations when fishing.
The close bond and shared hardships have helped to create a more approachable image of border guards, making them a reliable support for the people in times of trouble or security and order issues. Based on valuable information provided by the people, the border guard force has promptly handled many complex cases, contributing to maintaining social order and safety in the area.
At the same time, the harmonious coordination with mass organizations such as the Women's Union and the Youth Union through movements like "National Border Guard Day" or "All citizens participate in protecting territorial sovereignty" has continuously raised the sense of responsibility of each citizen in the new situation.
In the coming period, the Party Committee of the Provincial Border Guard Command has determined that it will continue to innovate its working methods, getting closer to the people to listen to their thoughts and aspirations. The military and the people together recognize that the national border is sacred and inviolable.
