The students had the opportunity to visit and experience Bong Lai Farm.
According to Mr. Ho Thanh Nhat, an official of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Hiep Thanh commune, the development of agro- tourism in Hiep Thanh is no longer just theory but has clear evidence. A prime example is Bong Lai Farm tourist area, which has successfully implemented a model of growing black grapes and is one of the pilot models recently supported by the province for rural tourism development.
Beyond simply producing high-quality agricultural products , at the end of 2024, the farm's black grapes were recognized as a 3-star OCOP certified product, affirming the quality and brand of its agricultural products. Simultaneously, Bong Lai Farm was also recognized as an agro-tourism destination, with farmers becoming "tour guides" on their land, transforming the vineyard into an exciting experience for visitors.
The success of Bong Lai Farm clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of combining OCOP products with experiential tourism. Visitors not only explore the landscape and learn about modern farming processes but also directly purchase quality-certified agricultural products, creating a sustainable local consumption channel and increasing income for the people.
“In Lam Dong province, many communes have successfully exploited their available resources to develop unique tourism programs such as: garden tourism, eco-cultural tourism, or tourism experiencing gong music . Hiep Thanh is no exception to this trend. Through surveys, authorities and local governments have determined that the commune has sufficient potential to develop diverse types of tourism, such as: eco-tourism, agricultural tourism, community tourism, cultural tourism, and craft village tourism. However, to turn this potential into reality, it requires the joint efforts of the government, travel businesses, and especially the involvement of the local community,” said Mr. Ho Thanh Nhat.
According to Mr. Ho Thanh Nhat, the policy of developing agricultural and rural tourism aims not only to increase farmers' income but also to create economic, cultural, and humanistic connections. As rural tourism develops, each farmer will become a "tour guide" on their own land, transforming rural landscapes, lifestyles, and culture into unique experiential products. More importantly, rural tourism creates an effective channel for promoting and selling OCOP (One Commune One Product) products locally.
Therefore, for the period 2025-2030, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hiep Thanh commune has developed a program for rural tourism development in the context of building new rural areas with specific objectives. These include focusing on developing rural tourism linkages at 9 locations under the program to build "Typical Cultural Tourism Villages associated with the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program". Furthermore, the goal is to digitize 50% of rural tourism destinations and connect them to digital tourism promotion and marketing platforms; and to train and improve the knowledge and skills of at least 80% of rural tourism staff and businesses.
To achieve its goals, the commune has been focusing on investing in the development of tourist destinations linked to the criteria of the new rural development program. This includes orienting rural tourist areas and destinations to connect with key tourist routes of the province, as well as improving infrastructure and ensuring harmony with the local cultural space. In particular, the planning and establishment of stalls to display, introduce, and sell high-quality agricultural products and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products is a key focus aimed at enhancing the value of the supply chain.
The implementation of these solutions needs to be based on maximizing the participation of the people and the community, to ensure that rural tourism is truly an open form of tourism, managed, exploited, and benefited from by the local community, thereby creating sustainable tourism economic development.
