Truck catches fire, severing power lines; one person dies.

In Khanh Hoa province, a truck carrying gasoline and diesel fuel unexpectedly caught fire on National Highway 1 in Van Ninh district, severing power lines and killing one person on the morning of July 28.

At approximately 6:30 AM, a truck carrying several drums of gasoline and diesel fuel was traveling on National Highway 1, heading north-south. Upon reaching Van Phuoc commune, smoke began rising from the rear of the vehicle. The driver panicked, swerved into an empty plot of land beside the road, and then escaped through the open door.

The flames then engulfed the entire truck, and the overhead high-voltage power lines were severed by the fire, severing and hanging across the road. A 59-year-old man ran to pull the power lines off National Highway 1 but was electrocuted and died.

The driver suffered burns and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The truck was completely burned, leaving only a metal frame, and the windows were shattered. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
