Watch Russia use the Impulse multi-purpose ground robot to tow artillery.

GD&TĐ - The Impulse multi-purpose ground robot system, manufactured by Russia's state-owned corporation Rostec, can now tow a 3-ton D-30 artillery piece.

In a recent announcement posted on its official Telegram channel, the state-owned corporation Rostec stated that the system has undergone comprehensive combat testing.

The 122mm D-30 self-propelled howitzer, first introduced in the 1960s, has a maximum rate of fire of 6-8 rounds per minute and an effective range of 15.3 km with standard ammunition, or up to 21.9 km with rocket-assisted ammunition.

In addition to the fire support version of the system, the transport version of the Impulse multi-purpose ground robot is also actively used in Special Military Operations to perform logistical tasks on the battlefield, such as transporting food, clothing, ammunition, and construction materials.

According to Rostec, these robots particularly demonstrate the effectiveness of autonomous movement technology across terrain without the need for human contact.

"They stand out for their ability to survive in combat conditions – they can withstand anti-personnel mine fragments and graze bullets from automatic weapons."

The most significant advantage of these robots is their superior off-road capability thanks to their tracked chassis, allowing them to navigate potholes, ditches, and climb steep slopes in muddy terrain.

These systems also boast impressive payload capabilities – they can carry up to 500kg up a 30-degree incline and up to one ton on flat terrain.

"When used as a towing vehicle, they can tow a D-30 artillery piece weighing over 3 tons," a Russian serviceman shared.

These systems can be controlled via both radio waves and fiber optic cables. They can also perform tasks in fully automated mode.
