Selection of 20 high-quality journalistic works in 2023

Following instructions from the Vietnam Journalists Association , the Tay Ninh Provincial Journalists Association developed a plan and proceeded with the procedures to establish a Review and Acceptance Council and a Selection Committee for the facilities.

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Journalists Association issued a document providing specific guidance on the conditions and criteria for selecting works in television, radio, print, and online journalism; the steps to follow; and the submission deadline. High-quality journalistic works for 2023 were selected through two stages: at the grassroots selection committee and the review and acceptance council, divided into three categories: A, B, and C.

The Tay Ninh Journalists Association selected 20 high-quality journalistic works in 2023 (Figure 1). — Mr. Vu Xuan Truong, Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial Journalists Association, presented awards to members who achieved high results in 2022.

Based on the funding allocated in 2023, with 60% for high-quality journalistic works and an additional 20% for works on the theme of "Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh ," the Provincial Journalists Association assigns targets to its branches and local selection committees to conduct the selection process and submit entries to the review and approval council.

Specifically, the Provincial Radio and Television Branch contributed 10 radio programs, 10 television programs, and 6 written works on the theme of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh; the Tay Ninh Newspaper Branch contributed 10 print newspaper articles, 10 online newspaper articles, and 6 written works on the theme of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh.

After the Secretariat compiled 40 high-quality journalistic works and 12 works on the theme of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, the Secretariat of the Review and Acceptance Council rejected 2 television works that did not meet the regulations.

Within one week, the review and approval council selected 20 works by 24 authors (or groups of authors), including: 4 television works, 4 radio works, 4 print newspaper works, 4 online newspaper works, and 4 works written on the theme of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, to receive funding support.

According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Council for Review and Acceptance of High-Quality Journalism Works in 2023, the quality of the submitted works was higher than in 2022. However, a small number of works were still of lower quality, short in length, and addressed significant issues but lacked effective content.

High-quality journalistic works from 2023 were recognized and awarded certificates at the Spring Newspaper Exhibition of the Year of the Dragon - 2024.
