Authorities dismantled a football betting ring worth over 3.5 billion VND.

GĐXH - The Lam Dong Provincial Police have dismantled a football betting ring led by Nguyen Minh Hung (born in 1996, residing in Ham Thuan Bac commune, Lam Dong province), with a total transaction amount exceeding 3.5 billion VND.

According to information from the Lam Dong Provincial Police, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency has successfully dismantled a gambling ring and organized gambling operation involving online football betting led by Nguyen Minh Hung (born in 1996, residing in Dan Tri village, Ham Thuan Bac commune, Lam Dong province), with a total transaction amount exceeding 3.5 billion VND.

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Lam Dong Provincial Police also temporarily detained four individuals: Bui Huu Minh (born in 1987, residing in Dan Binh village, Ham Kiem commune, Lam Dong province); Vo Tri Hung (born in 1981, residing in Thien Hoa village, Mui Ne ward, Lam Dong province); Le Hoang Hai (born in 1974, residing in Tien Phu village, Tuyen Quang commune, Lam Dong province); and Nguyen Minh Hung (born in 1996, residing in Dan Tri village, Ham Thuan Bac commune, Lam Dong province).

Previously, through local area management and monitoring of cybercrime, the Criminal Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police discovered that in several communes and wards in the eastern part of the province, many individuals were organizing and participating in gambling in the form of football betting through the website Bong88 (Viva88).

Recognizing this as a sophisticated and clandestine network exploiting cyberspace to commit illegal acts, the police proactively developed a plan to focus on combating and dismantling the network.

On May 21, 2026, the Criminal Police Department, in coordination with other professional units and local police, summoned the individuals involved to the headquarters for questioning.

According to the investigation documents, around April 2026, Bui Huu Minh contacted Nguyen Minh Hung to purchase football betting accounts on the Bong88 (Viva88) website. Minh then further divided these accounts into multiple Member accounts and distributed them to other gamblers to profit from the difference in price.

In addition, the police also determined that Vo Tri Hung and Le Hoang Hai had used accounts provided through the Bong88 (Viva88) website to gamble on football matches for money from around the beginning of April 2026 until now.

Initially, the Police Investigation Agency determined that the total amount of money transacted in this football betting ring exceeded 3.5 billion VND.

The Investigation Police Department of Lam Dong province is continuing to consolidate the case file, expand the investigation, and handle the matter according to the law.
