Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Hong Thai has just signed an official dispatch to tourist accommodation service businesses on rectifying tourist accommodation business activities in the province, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, civility, politeness, friendliness and hospitality.
According to the above document, in recent times, the tourism industry has recovered, developed, and achieved many encouraging results. The number of tourists coming to Phu Yen has increased, especially on holidays, days off, and weekends.
However, through feedback from tourists, recently there have been some unhealthy behaviors in business activities, such as: Arbitrarily canceling pre-booked rooms; speculating, keeping rooms to sell at high prices on peak days and weekends; agreeing to sell services at illegal rates (only accepting bookings of 2 nights or more or bookings with food and beverage services); the activities of some hotel room sales collaborators manipulating the market, increasing prices, providing services not in accordance with contracts and agreements with tourists... have negatively affected the tourism environment and image of Phu Yen.
In order to strengthen state management of tourism business activities, promptly correct and prevent the above violations, contributing to building the image of Phu Yen tourism as "Safe - Friendly - Attractive", the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism requires tourist accommodation service businesses to comply with the provisions of law in accommodation service business activities.
Do not arbitrarily cancel a guest's booked room without reason or without a valid reason. Comply with regulations on publicly posting prices and selling at no higher than the listed price. Absolutely do not arbitrarily increase prices, force customers to buy, use combo services (except for promotional programs, discounts according to regulations), sell at illegal rates, cause price fever, sell at high prices for profit.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned the Department's Inspectorate to coordinate with relevant agencies to monitor, conduct surprise inspections, and strictly handle violations according to legal regulations, to prevent the above phenomena and violations from occurring, especially during the 65th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long-distance Championship and Phu Yen Culture and Tourism Week 2024.
The Department also requested the Provincial Tourism Association to direct and guide member units to seriously implement the above requirements, urge monitoring and have a monitoring mechanism and handling form if there are violations.
