Tet (Vietnamese New Year) arrives early thanks to the spirit of sharing.
As is customary, during the Lunar New Year, teachers and students of Nguyen Trai High School - Phan Rang organize a piggy bank smashing ceremony to collect money for scholarships and Tet gifts for underprivileged but studious students. Through this piggy bank saving campaign, the entire school has accumulated over 58 million VND. With this fund and the support of staff, teachers, parents, and benefactors, the school organized the "Lighting Up Dreams for the 2025-2026 School Year" program, awarding 69 scholarships (including 4 savings accounts worth 5 million VND each) totaling 71 million VND, and 89 Tet gifts totaling over 31 million VND to students who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quan, Principal of Nguyen Trai High School in Phan Rang, said: “The ‘Lighting Up Dreams’ program is implemented annually by the school and carries profound humanitarian significance. It is a great source of encouragement and support, helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds celebrate a warm and joyful Tet holiday with their families.”

Teachers and students of Phu Ha 2 Primary School (Phan Rang Ward) recently held their first piggy bank smashing ceremony, collecting nearly 54 million VND. Ms. Nguyen Thi Khuyen, the principal of Phu Ha 2 Primary School, said: “The ‘Saving money in piggy banks to help poor students’ movement has become an annual activity of the school. This year, from the piggy bank fund, the school awarded 97 Tet gifts (400,000 VND each) to students in difficult circumstances, helping them have better conditions to celebrate the Lunar New Year happily and warmly with their families.”

This year, Chu Van An High School (Bao An Ward) continued its fundraising program to provide Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Hanh, Vice Principal of Chu Van An High School, the school's staff, teachers, and students donated over 20 million VND, enabling them to provide 100 Tet gifts to students in need. In addition, thanks to support from benefactors, the school awarded an additional 20 gifts, totaling nearly 10 million VND, to students who overcame difficulties and excelled in their studies.

In Dong Hai ward, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward recently organized the distribution of 129 Tet gifts, totaling 38.7 million VND, to students from poor and near-poor households and those with difficult circumstances at Tran Hung Dao Secondary and High School. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Yen, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Hai ward, in addition to the aforementioned gifts, this Lunar New Year, thanks to support from the Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant ( Lam Dong province), the ward's Fatherland Front will continue to distribute 161 Tet gifts totaling 80.5 million VND to students at Vo Nguyen Giap Primary and Secondary School, Dong Hai 1 Primary School, and Dong Hai 2 Primary School; and award 117 scholarships totaling 63 million VND to students from poor, near-poor, and households with particularly difficult circumstances in the ward. In addition, the Ward Front mobilized benefactors to donate 93 cartons of milk, worth over 23 million VND in total, to children at My Dong Kindergarten, Vanh Khuyen Kindergarten, and Dong Hai Kindergarten.

In Do Vinh ward, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward has implemented activities to care for disadvantaged students during Tet (Lunar New Year). Ms. Dau Thi Lam, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Do Vinh ward, said: “Thanks to the support from Linh Son Pagoda, this year, the ward's Fatherland Front will give 200 Tet gifts (500,000 VND/gift) to students from poor and near-poor households, contributing to encouraging them to strive in their studies and celebrate the traditional Tet holiday in a joyful and warm atmosphere.”
In the vibrant atmosphere of the early days of the new spring, activities to care for disadvantaged students during Tet (Lunar New Year) are given attention not only to provide material support, helping students to have more motivation to strive and celebrate the traditional Tet holiday joyfully and warmly, but also to spread the spirit of mutual support, compassion, and sharing in the community as Tet arrives and spring comes.
