Xuan Son is the top scorer of the Southeast Asian Cup.

Striker Nguyen Xuan Son (Nam Dinh) won the joint top scorer title of the ASEAN Club Championship 2025-2026 along with Bergson da Silva of Johor Darul Ta'zim (Malaysia).

On the night of May 27th, after the second leg of the ASEAN Club Championship 2025-2026 final between Buriram United and Selangor ended with a 2-1 victory for the Thai representative, the winner of the top scorer title was determined.

Because players Guilherme Bissoli (Buriram United) and Chrigor Moraes (Selangor) did not score, with only 6 and 5 goals respectively, they could not equal the goal tally of Nguyen Xuan Son and Bergson da Silva (7 goals).

Therefore, Xuan Son and the player from Johor Darul Ta'zim (Malaysia) shared the top scorer title.

Xuan Son only returned from injury in December 2025, participating from the second matchday of the ASEAN Club Championship group stage, scoring 3 goals against Shan United (Myanmar), and two consecutive braces against Bangkok United (Thailand) and Lion City Sailors (Singapore). But since then, Xuan Son has gone scoreless for the remainder of the tournament.

"Has anyone ever done this before? I don't remember. I won the top scorer award after breaking my leg, you know. I love everyone," Xuan Son humorously shared on Nam Dinh Club's post.

This individual award is a great encouragement for Xuan Son in a relatively disappointing season for Nam Dinh FC. The team from Nam Dinh was eliminated from the Asian and Southeast Asian cups, and became former V-League champions.

Ahead of Xuan Son and his teammates is only the National Cup, where Nam Dinh will face Ho Chi Minh City Police in the semi-finals on June 11th. This is their last chance to salvage the season.
