In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, when the demand for blood for emergency and treatment is high, hundreds of officials, reporters, and youth union members of the Vietnam News Agency participated in the voluntary blood donation program "Spring at the News Agency - Giving a Drop of Blood, Spreading Love". Each drop of blood donated contributes to replenishing the national blood reserve and spreads the spirit of sharing and responsibility for the community.

Ms. Cao Chu Dieu Linh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Vietnam News Agency, shared: "Right from the launch, the Youth Union of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) proactively coordinated with the agency's office to promote awareness through internal channels such as Zalo groups and Facebook Fanpages, while also sending open letters to VNA's partner units and mobilizing relatives and friends... In addition, we especially focused on close and widespread forms of communication through the participation and registration of blood donations by Youth Union officials, core members, and unit leaders to create a positive effect throughout the agency."
The "Springtime at Vietnam News Agency - Giving Blood, Spreading Love" program was launched with the goal of jointly supplementing blood reserves to serve emergency and treatment needs during the Lunar New Year, a time when blood is often scarce. This is also a meaningful activity to promote social responsibility and spread a compassionate and sharing lifestyle among officials, employees, and especially the youth members of the Vietnam News Agency.
“A highlight of this year’s program is the very active and diverse participation of all personnel within the agency, including leaders and unit heads who directly registered to donate blood. This not only contributes to enhancing the program’s effectiveness but also strongly spreads the spirit of exemplary conduct, responsibility, and camaraderie among generations within the VNA collective, creating a warm and cohesive atmosphere in the early days of Spring,” said Ms. Dieu Linh.

Ms. Tran My Hanh, who works at Vietnam Photo News (VNA), shared that for her, donating blood is simply about saving lives. While Vietnam's blood reserves, especially during Tet (Lunar New Year), are still insufficient to meet demand, she always wants to contribute her small part. This is the third year she has registered to donate blood, although her health doesn't always meet the requirements...
"There were times when I wasn't eligible, but I didn't give up. I persevered in taking care of my health, hoping to be able to donate as much as possible this year, when my body is in the best condition," Ms. Hanh said.
To prepare for this blood donation drive, Ms. Hanh proactively maintained her health, ate a balanced diet, and consumed nutritious food to stabilize her blood pressure... And this time, she was delighted to meet the criteria for blood donation, fulfilling her wish to "donate blood to save lives."
“I have a friend who suffers from a blood disease and frequently needs platelet transfusions. From that experience, I've come to appreciate blood donors even more, because they provide a precious source of platelets, giving patients a chance to receive treatment. Although their contribution is small, each blood donor is making a practical contribution, helping patients battling serious illnesses to have more faith and a chance to overcome their difficulties,” Ms. Hanh shared.

In a conversation with reporters, Ms. Hanh shared that she used to be hesitant and apprehensive about donating blood. Worries about not being healthy enough, fear of fatigue, or encountering problems during the blood donation process made her hesitate many times. However, all those reservations gradually disappeared when she had the opportunity to visit hematology hospitals and witness firsthand the patients battling illness, especially those with severe anemia and platelet deficiency.
"From what I've seen, I realize that blood donation is extremely necessary. Although each person only contributes a very small amount, that act of sharing can help someone overcome a serious illness and give them a better chance to live. And if we can spread that spirit to more people, then that small act becomes very significant," Ms. Hanh expressed.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Hung, who works at the Center for Digital Content and Communications (Vietnam News Agency), shared that blood donation is an extremely meaningful activity. Every year, the Vietnam News Agency organizes humanitarian blood donation programs, and he himself has participated many times. To date, he has donated blood at the agency about 6-7 times, and this is the second time he has registered to donate blood this year.
"Every time I donate blood, I feel very proud knowing that my blood can contribute to helping patients who are struggling and need a second chance at life. I think this is something that should be done and needs to be done," Hung expressed.

According to Mr. Hung, blood donation is not only a charitable activity but also an act that anyone who is eligible can participate in. Besides its humanitarian significance, blood donors also receive health advice and undergo basic tests, thereby gaining a better understanding of their own health status.
"I hope that more and more people will respond and participate in blood donation to spread positive values in the community," Hung expressed.
Sharing the same sentiment, Ms. Dinh Ha Linh, a member of the Youth Union of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), expressed that voluntary blood donation brings many practical values to both the community and the participants themselves. Each unit of donated blood is a timely support for patients in need of emergency blood transfusions, contributing to reducing pressure on blood banks, especially during the period leading up to the Lunar New Year, when blood reserves are often scarce. In addition, blood donors receive a general health check before participating, thereby raising their awareness of self-care.

According to Ms. Ha Linh, the biggest motivation for her repeated blood donation is the feeling of happiness knowing that her small act can bring a chance of life and hope to patients. Sharing more about the voluntary blood donation activity organized at the Vietnam News Agency on the morning of February 2nd, Ms. Ha Linh expressed her joy at the large participation of youth union members and young people.
"With youthful energy and a proactive spirit, voluntary blood donation is a very meaningful and humane act, demonstrating the Vietnamese tradition of love and sharing, while also spreading the spirit of responsibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to contribute to the community among today's young generation," Ms. Ha Linh shared.
“Voluntary blood donation is a very concrete testament to the pioneering spirit and volunteerism for the community of our youth union members. Through this program, each member not only directly contributes through practical actions, but also helps spread the message of living responsibly, compassionately, and readily sharing. This is also how the youth of VNA demonstrate their pioneering role in the social and humanitarian activities of the agency,” shared Ms. Cao Chu Dieu Linh.
