Besides organizing gatherings, for women facing particular difficulties or illness, Women's Union officials directly visit their homes to offer Tet gifts. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Phuong, a single woman living in the Thoi Hoa C area and classified as near-poor, said: “Thanks to the Women's Union and the local government's care, I have a sturdy house to live in and can work with peace of mind. This Tet, the ward's Women's Union also gave me gifts. I will always remember everyone's kindness and it is my motivation to strive to overcome difficulties.” Ms. Pham Thi Thuy, from the Hoa Long area, is a woman in particularly difficult circumstances. Previously, Ms. Thuy sold lottery tickets to make a living. In the past few months, her health has deteriorated, making it impossible for her to sell tickets, and her life has become even more difficult. Women's Union officials from the ward and women's branches regularly visit her, giving her Tet gifts and encouraging her to focus on treatment so that she can recover her health soon...
During the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of the ward directed the branches and groups, in addition to mobilizing social resources to care for members and women during Tet, to pay attention to promoting the effectiveness of revolving fund groups, prioritizing women in difficult circumstances to receive capital contributions to purchase necessary items and supplies. The Standing Committee of the Women's Union of the ward organized a delegation to visit effective production models; and requested production cooperatives to pay wages promptly so that members have the means to prepare for Tet.
These days, the Thoi Loi Garment Processing Cooperative is bustling with activity. According to Ms. Le Thi Truc Phuong, Head of the Women's Association in the area, the cooperative has 25 members, with an average income of 6 million VND per person per month. This is one of eight models awarded a certificate of merit by the O Mon Ward People's Committee as a model of effective community mobilization in 2025. Ms. Ho Hong Xuyen, a member of the cooperative, excitedly shared: “Before, I was a stay-at-home housewife, taking care of my family. For the past three years, with the encouragement and guidance of the Women's Association officials, I joined the garment group and have a stable income of about 6 million VND per month. During Tet (Lunar New Year), orders are numerous, and we have to work hard to meet deadlines, which in turn increases our income. I plan to use my earnings this time to buy new clothes and some necessary household items to prepare for Tet.”
According to Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Doan, President of the Women's Union of O Mon Ward, to date, the Women's Union of the ward and its branches have mobilized and donated over 500 gifts, totaling 150 million VND, to care for women during Tet (Lunar New Year). These loving gifts, given to women during the spring season, are a source of encouragement and motivation for member families and women in difficult circumstances to strive for a better life.
