Seafood exports aim for 10.5 billion USD target

QNgTV- According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, the export turnover of the entire seafood industry is forecast to reach 10.5 billion USD this year thanks to stable import demand from major markets such as China, the European Union and countries participating in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership - CPTPP.

Accordingly, seafood exports in the fourth quarter will stagnate, reaching only nearly 2.2 billion USD, due to the impact of the 20% reciprocal tax of the US and the possibility of Vietnamese shrimp exported to this market being subject to high taxes.

By the end of the third quarter, Vietnam's seafood export turnover reached 8.36 billion USD, up 16% over the same period last year with two main products being shrimp and tra fish. China continued to surpass the US to maintain its position as the largest seafood importer of Vietnam with a turnover of 1.8 billion USD, up 34% over the same period last year. Next is the US market with a turnover of 1.4 billion USD, up 8.4%; Japan with 1.3 billion USD and the EU with 884 million USD.
