Yen Phong: Rising to become the dynamic industrial capital of Bac Ninh

According to the Management Board of Industrial Parks (IPs) of Bac Ninh province, the IPs of Yen Phong district currently have more than 156 domestic and foreign enterprises registered for investment; the total number of employees is more than 132,110 people, of which more than 30,000 are from Bac Ninh (more than 10,000 employees from Yen Phong) and more than 2,000 foreign employees; Dong Tho multi-occupation industrial cluster (IC) has 41 enterprises leasing land, 36 enterprises in production, with a total investment of more than 3,300 billion VND, attracting more than 6,000 employees.

Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park attracts many large companies and corporations to produce because of its convenient transportation, preferential mechanisms and policies.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, Chairman of Yen Phong District People's Committee, Yen Phong district takes advantage of its prime location, adjacent to Noi Bai International Airport, an important traffic junction of the Northern key economic region and located in the important traffic hub of two arterial highways of the Capital region: Hanoi - Ha Long, Hanoi - Thai Nguyen, along with the planning of well-planned industrial parks such as Yen Phong I Industrial Park, Yen Phong II-C, VSIP Bac Ninh... has become an attractive destination for many large domestic and international economic groups such as Samsung, Viglacera, Orion, Vinamilk ...

In particular, the presence of businesses operating in the fields of electronics and high technology contributes to making Yen Phong the dynamic industrial capital of Bac Ninh.

Also in 2024, Yen Phong will attract a semiconductor material production and testing assembly project of Amkor Technology Vietnam Company in Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park, with an area of about 23 hectares and a total investment of 1.6 billion USD (contributing to making Bac Ninh the leading province in the country in attracting FDI capital). The project will officially come into operation from August 2024.

Amkor Technology Vietnam Company chose Yen Phong as its destination in Vietnam.

"Currently, the district continues to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to speed up the implementation of infrastructure projects for industrial parks and clusters in the area; remove difficulties and obstacles in compensation, support, and site clearance to implement key projects on industrial parks and clusters such as VSIP Bac Ninh II Industrial Park, Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park, II-A Industrial Park, Yen Phong I Industrial Park expansion... to further promote investment attraction, worthy of being the industrial capital of Bac Ninh province", Mr. Hoan shared.

Up to now, the total area of industrial parks according to the planning is 1,309.7 ha; the recovered area is 1,213.8 ha; 1,092.7 ha has been assigned. The industrial clusters of Trung Nghia - Dong Tho craft village, Yen Trung - Dong Tien industrial cluster, Yen Trung - Thuy Hoa, Man Xa - Van Mon and Dong Tho multi-craft industrial cluster are also being actively implemented and 84.7 ha/181 ha of planned land have been assigned.

In 2024, Yen Phong district decided to reclaim land and approve compensation plans for 10 projects, with a total reclaimed area of 63.59 hectares and a total compensation area of 44.37 hectares. Proposing the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province to allocate land to implement investment projects to expand infrastructure of Yen Phong II - C Industrial Park (phase 8); projects to develop infrastructure of VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park, trade and services (phase 5), infrastructure of Yen Phong II-A Industrial Park (phase 4)... Thereby speeding up the progress of construction and transportation projects, creating a premise for development.

Ha Bac 2 Bridge connects Yen Phong district with the industrial provinces of Bac Giang and Thai Nguyen.

In addition, the locality also plans construction, land use and adds information of adjusted projects to the list of projects to attract investment and remove difficulties, speed up the progress of site clearance for key traffic construction projects of the province and district such as: DT 295 section from the intersection of DT 295 with National Highway 18 to DT 285B; the road connecting from Song Cau dike to Yen Phong I Industrial Park expansion; routes DT.295C, DT.285B, connecting Bac Ninh city through industrial parks with the new National Highway 3, DT.277B connecting with Ha Bac 2 bridge, Ring Road 4... to attract more investors to Yen Phong.

Along with attracting investment in industrial parks, Yen Phong also focuses on developing industrial clusters to create jobs on the spot and increase the district's budget revenue. A typical example is Dong Tho multi-occupation industrial cluster with 41 land-leasing enterprises, 36 enterprises in production, a total investment of more than 3,300 billion VND, attracting more than 6,000 workers.

The Trung Nghia - Dong Tho craft village industrial parks, Yen Trung - Dong Tien industrial parks, Yen Trung - Thuy Hoa, Man Xa - Van Mon are also actively speeding up the progress of handing over land to attract businesses to invest in the direction of green and ecological growth.

According to Chairman of Yen Phong District People's Committee Nguyen Van Hoan, with advantages in land potential, geographical location, people, synchronous technical infrastructure and constantly improving investment environment, Yen Phong district has been attracting large companies and corporations in the world to invest in Yen Phong to become the "industrial capital" of Bac Ninh province, contributing to the goal of soon turning Bac Ninh into a centrally-run city.
