Call to stop asking parents to contribute nanny allowance

On the afternoon of September 26, at a regular press conference providing information on socio -economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training (GD&DT) of Thu Duc City confirmed that a number of primary schools in the area have called on parents to support the contribution of the August 2024 allowance for nannies. The above amount is collected voluntarily from parents and paid to the school.

According to Ms. Hien, after receiving the information and reviewing, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City requested the units to stop the mobilization and return all the funds that were mobilized and used for the wrong purpose.

At the same time, this unit directededucational institutions to seriously study the document and properly implement the direction and spirit of Circular 16/2018/TT-BGDDT regulating funding for educational institutions in the national education system.

"The Department of Education and Training will inspect the implementation of the campaign contents at facilities in the coming time, and advise on handling units that violate financial principles," said Ms. Hien.

The department's leaders said that every year, this unit has documents to rectify the work of mobilizing funding for education and operating expenses of the parent-teacher association.

In particular, the department emphasized not to mobilize funding to pay for: Teaching fees; expenses directly related to managers, teachers, lecturers and staff, security and protection activities; fees for looking after students' vehicles; fees for maintaining classroom hygiene and school hygiene; rewards for managers, teachers and staff; costs to support the management of educational institutions.

In addition, the funds of the Parents' Representative Board shall not be used for the following purposes: Protecting school facilities, ensuring school security, supervising students' vehicles, cleaning classrooms, cleaning schools, rewarding school administrators, teachers, and staff, and purchasing machinery and equipment.
