Photographer Bui Van Co is currently a member of the Dak Lak Provincial Association of Literature and Arts.

"I pursue photography out of passion and the feeling of happiness I get when I capture beautiful moments of everyday life. If my work can make someone pause for a few seconds, smile, or see themselves in it, then that's enough for me," shared photographer Bui Van Co (73 years old).

Passionate about photography since his 20s, it was only in the last 10 years that he had the opportunity to create, specializing in everyday life photography. His photographs of life's moments evoke strong emotions in viewers, such as the work "Tet Reunion" (awarded the A Prize in the Chu Yang Sin Literature and Arts Award for the period 2020-2025), which recreates the cultural beauty of the Ede people.

Undeterred by difficulties, he sometimes traveled nearly 60 km, eating quick meals of bread, sleeping overnight in his car, waiting for sunset and sunrise to capture his desired works. After the administrative reorganization, the merger of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces opened up new creative spaces for artists from both provinces, including photographer Bui Van Co. Besides the vast forests of the Central Highlands, he also had the beautiful, tranquil coastal region to unleash his creativity. In addition to being captivated by the coffee plantations bursting with white blossoms, engrossed in "Flying over the Great Forest," "Buon Jun Awakens," admiring "Water Lily Season on Lak Lake," feeling "Spring Arrives at Dray Nur Waterfall," "Beside the Krong Ana River,"... or immersing himself in coffee festivals and attending the Buddha's Birthday Celebration 2569 - Vesak 2025..., he found many more subjects in the coastal region of Phu Yen.

Photographer Bui Van Co has a particular fondness for capturing everyday moments, such as the happy eyes of fishermen pulling in their anchovy nets, the smiles of children playing on the beach, and farmers in the coastal fields as dusk falls... All of these are not only source material for his work but also touch the deepest emotions in his soul.

“Photography is my friend; it helps me learn to observe life, which is always so fast-paced. Through the lens, I see small things that the naked eye sometimes misses: a glance, a moment of silence, a touch of genuine emotion. Photography helps me live more slowly, with more emotion; it teaches me patience, to wait for the right light, to wait for the right moment. Most importantly, photography helps me connect with my subjects, to understand and appreciate the stories behind their faces.”
