Google's video streaming platform will use an AI model called Gemini to identify the moments in a video "where audiences are most engaged" — and allow brands to place ads there, Google announced in a blog post on Wednesday.

Youtube uses AI to optimize ads.
YouTube gave an example: A video of a wedding proposal on a snowy mountain top could be strategically interrupted with an ad right after the groom proposes.
This new tool is called "Peak Point".
YouTube's advertising revenue reached nearly 8 billion euros in the first quarter of 2025, up 10% from last year. That figure does not include the additional revenue YouTube generates through new subscriber viewers.
Alphabet, the parent company of both Google and YouTube, has leaned heavily on AI as it plans for growth. Last month, the company announced a $75 billion (€65.9 billion) investment, largely aimed at bolstering its AI infrastructure by 2025.
The tech giant is also bringing its Gemini model to Android devices and expanding its capabilities to cars, watches and TVs.
“Peak Point” is Google’s latest foray into using AI to maximize advertising potential.
