President Vo Van Thuong has just signed Decision No. 1582/QD-CTN awarding the title of "Outstanding Teacher" to 1,031 teachers nationwide.

People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher are the highest honors bestowed upon those who have made significant contributions to the field of education .

These are teachers with excellent moral character, dedication, and commitment to their profession; they are shining examples, exemplary and outstanding educators with widespread influence in the field and society, respected by students, colleagues, and the public; they are pioneers in innovating educational management, teaching methods, and assessment…

In addition to the general criteria mentioned above, according to regulations, teachers who are considered Outstanding Teachers must meet other criteria such as having been awarded the title of "Outstanding Teacher at the grassroots level" seven times or the title of "Excellent Teacher/Lecturer" at the same level seven times, or having been awarded the title of "Outstanding Teacher at the grassroots level" and "Excellent Teacher/Lecturer" at the same level seven times, including one consecutive year before the nomination; having been awarded the title of "Outstanding Teacher" at the provincial or ministerial level once, or the title of "Excellent Teacher/Lecturer" at the provincial or ministerial level once; and having received a Certificate of Merit at the provincial or ministerial level once.

For teachers and education administrators working in areas with particularly difficult socio -economic conditions: They must have been awarded the title of "Outstanding Emulation Soldier at the grassroots level" five times, or the title of "Excellent Teacher at the same level" five times, or both the title of "Outstanding Emulation Soldier at the grassroots level" and "Excellent Teacher at the same level" five times, including one award immediately preceding the year of nomination.

Professionally, educators awarded the title of "Outstanding Educator" must be high-quality and effective teachers; have made significant contributions to the innovation of curricula, content, and teaching methods to improve the quality of education and training effectiveness; and have led initiatives or scientific research projects that have been effectively applied in teaching and education.

In addition, educators must have at least 15 years of direct experience in nurturing and teaching children. Education administrators must have at least 20 years of experience in the education sector, including at least 10 years of direct experience in nurturing and teaching children.

Previously, in August 2023, the State Council for the 16th awarding of the titles of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher organized a public consultation on 1,225 candidates.

According to the published list, the total number of candidates nominated for the title of People's Teacher in 2023 is 24, including 19 from ministries and agencies and 5 from localities.

The total number of candidates nominated for the title of Excellent Teacher in 2023 is 1,201, of which 144 are from ministries, sectors under ministries and national universities; and 1,057 are from localities.
