(PLVN) - On September 10, the 79th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Customs (September 10, 1945 - September 10, 2024), Director General of the General Department of Customs Nguyen Van Tho participated and delivered a meaningful speech at the 2024 Customs - Business Forum with the theme: "10 years of developing Customs - Business partnership" organized by Customs Magazine and the Customs Modernization Reform Board.
Key, regular tasks
Speaking at the Forum, proudly reviewing the 79-year tradition of building and growing up of Vietnam Customs, Director General Nguyen Van Tho emphasized that the development of the partnership between Customs - Enterprises and related parties has been given special attention and focus by the Customs sector over the past many years. Especially since 2014, Customs agencies at all levels have always identified this as a key, regular task and achieved many positive results.
Since the beginning of 2024, our country's economy has continued to face great difficulties and challenges. It is necessary to continue developing the Customs - Business partnership in the coming time to share, support and accompany the business community to overcome difficulties for stability and development.
The Customs Department always strengthens information, propaganda, dissemination and support for people and businesses to fully and promptly grasp the provisions of customs and tax laws. The Customs Department also focuses on consulting the business community on policies and legal provisions on customs and taxes; key reform and modernization programs before they are issued; and solutions to remove obstacles and difficulties for businesses.
Every year, the Customs authority has organized hundreds of Customs - Business dialogue conferences and has handled tens of thousands of problems of the business community. The work of supervising law enforcement is focused on and implemented by units in the Customs sector through many channels, through which businesses can interact, directly reflect the spirit, service attitude as well as issues that are not yet satisfied in the process of carrying out customs procedures at the Sub-Departments...
Consider businesses as cooperative partners
Sharing the goals set by Vietnam Customs in the coming time, General Director Nguyen Van Tho emphasized that Vietnam Customs is currently implementing the Customs Development Strategy to 2030 according to the Prime Minister 's approval decision.
Among them, the objectives are: "Improving the quality of service for people and businesses in customs procedures and customs management. Facilitating legal cross-border trade, tourism and transportation activities, creating a transparent and fair import-export environment, contributing to national competitiveness" and "developing cooperative and partnership relations between Customs and relevant parties to create a foundation and contribute to improving the effectiveness of state management of Customs".
In the coming time, the Customs sector will continue to focus resources on developing and perfecting legal documents on customs to simplify administrative procedures, facilitate customs procedures and gradually improve the capacity for customs inspection, supervision and control. Improve the operational efficiency of the Customs agency through digital tools, contributing to innovation in working methods; improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Customs agency's operations and the quality of public service provision for people and businesses.
With the goal of building and developing the industry in the coming period, the Customs sector will continue to promote the development of the partnership between Customs - Enterprises and related parties, actively innovate, ensuring that it is increasingly substantive and in-depth; consider enterprises cooperative partners; take the satisfaction of enterprises as one of the top important criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of the Customs agency's operations. The Customs sector will continue to diversify the forms of information and propaganda to ensure that they are suitable for the characteristics of enterprise types and the specific management areas; apply strongly digital technology to information work.
Director General Nguyen Van Tho also said that in order for the Customs - Business cooperation to be increasingly effective, in addition to the efforts of the Customs sector, the active participation of ministries, branches, business associations, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and especially the active participation of the business community is essential. Therefore, the Customs sector hopes that businesses will continue to coordinate and respond with the Customs agency to develop more diverse activities to develop the Customs - Business partnership. The companionship, dynamism and creativity of the business community will be an important factor to create success and development.
With the spirit of drastic and unified implementation throughout the industry, Director General Nguyen Van Tho believes that the above-mentioned goals and solutions on developing the partnership between Customs - Enterprises and related parties of the Customs sector will create an important driving force in supporting and promptly removing difficulties in production and business activities of the business community; helping businesses to develop more strongly and effectively in the coming time.
