For the first time, Mandarin Oriental took the No. 1 spot. In 2022, the spot went to Six Senses, with Mandarin Oriental coming in second. Two new brands to the list this year are Peninsula and Raffles.
Mandarin Oriental operates more than 30 properties globally with 14 hotels in Asia- Pacific (not yet open in Vietnam), 15 properties in Europe, 5 in the US, 6 hotels located in the Middle East and Africa.
This year's runner-up, Oetker Collection, was given a close second to the top spot by Luxury Travel Intelligence, with just a small margin. Oetker Collection operates 12 hotels globally, including Le Bristol in Paris, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, and The Lanesborough in London, England.
The list is based on expert analysis and scoring across more than 100 categories, from service delivery, in-room dining, pre-arrival guest processes, a brand's social media engagement to staff. Michael Crompton, co-founder of Luxury Travel Intelligence, said he used a scoring system to eliminate "inevitable personal emotion and opinion" when ranking the top 12.
Luxury Travel Intelligence says it is not sponsored or influenced by any organizations or businesses when scoring brands and publishing rankings. Those who want to become members can access the website to see the latest updates on world travel for a fee of $700 per year.
