
20 infrastructure support projects implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been supporting infrastructure construction in Vietnam through 5 non-refundable aid projects and 15 ODA projects with preferential loans. JICA is in the process of completing procedures with the Vietnamese side to assess the possibility of implementing projects to support the construction of roads, irrigation works, and anti-erosion embankments in some northern provinces, to protect people from the impacts of climate change.
Some infrastructure projects that Japanese partners have supported in Vietnam in recent times include: Yen Xa wastewater treatment plant - one of the largest wastewater treatment plants in Southeast Asia, metro line 1 - the first metro line of Ho Chi Minh City.
In the coming time, JICA will utilize technology, knowledge, and experience to support Vietnam in implementing four reform pillars, based on four Resolutions of the Politburo , including: breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation; promoting international integration; building and enforcing laws; and developing the private economy. JICA will continue to support the development and consolidation of Vietnam's semiconductor and artificial intelligence training ecosystem, focusing on enhancing cooperation between relevant parties.
At the same time, promote connectivity through the development of urban railway systems, technology transfer from Japanese companies to Vietnamese enterprises; support small and medium enterprises with training programs and financial access.
