2.37 million tourists visited Hanoi in May

On May 28, the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that in May, the number of domestic and international visitors increased, of which domestic tourists reached 1.88 million, up 10.6% over the same period last year. Total revenue from tourists reached VND9,194 billion, up 23.6% over the same period in 2023.

Since the beginning of the year, the total number of tourists to Hanoi has reached 11.55 million, up 14% over the same period in 2023. Of which, international tourists reached 2.64 million, up 51.9% over the same period in 2023. Domestic tourists reached 8.91 million, up 6.1% over the same period in 2023. Total revenue from tourists reached VND 45,856 billion, up 23% over the same period in 2023.

It is expected that in the first 6 months of 2024, the total number of tourists to Hanoi will reach 14.05 million, an increase of 13.7% over the same period in 2023. Of which, international tourists will reach 3.14 million, an increase of 52.6% over the same period in 2023. Domestic tourists will reach 10.3 million, an increase of 6% over the same period in 2023. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 45,107 billion, an increase of 22.8% over the same period in 2023.

Regarding accommodation activities, in May 2024, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector reached 64.7%, down 1.7% compared to April 2024 and up 1% compared to the same period in 2023. It is expected that in the first 6 months of the year, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector is estimated to reach 63.9%, up 2.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
