This is the highly anticipated film after “28 Days Later” (2002) and “28 Weeks Later” (2007) and also marks the special reunion of two famous names who reshaped the post-apocalyptic film genre: Danny Boyle and Alex Garland.
This is the team that created the legendary "28 Days Later", one of the films that laid the foundation for many horror-survival works later. Director Danny Boyle is also known for his liberal, energetic directing style, having won an Oscar for the film "Slumdog Millionaire".

He also frequently puts characters in chaotic worlds - where survival instinct and humanity are always in tension, such as in "Trainspotting" or "Sunshine". As for screenwriter Alex Garland, he is famous for exploiting mental instability, isolation, and the concept of "shady truth" in the post-apocalyptic world. He has also directed heavy sci- fi - psychological films such as "Ex Machina", "Annihilation" and most recently "Civil War".
In “28 Years Later,” Boyle not only returns to the genre that made his name, but also promises to bring a more mature and profound perspective, where fear comes not only from zombies, but also from society and people themselves.
Garland continues to push the horror genre beyond the boundaries of entertainment, to become a mirror of modern society - where the consequences of the pandemic, ideological divisions and post-Brexit obsessions are subtly integrated.
The film's first trailer reached 60.2 million global views in the first 24 hours, becoming the most successful horror film trailer launch of 2024, surpassing "A Quiet Place: Day One" (46.6 million views), "Smile 2" (33.1 million views) and "Nosferatu" (26.4 million views).
The trailer topped the Golden Trailer Award and won in three categories, including Best Film, Most Original Trailer, and the Don Lafontaine Award for Best Voiceover.

“28 Years Later” is set 28 years after the Rage pandemic, following a family living on an isolated island, connected to the mainland by a tidal causeway. When the father (Aaron Taylor‑Johnson) takes his son (Alfie Williams) off the island, they discover horrifying secrets on the mainland and a chilling truth: The world has changed—not just the zombies, but the survivors as well. No longer a simple escape from zombies, “28 Years Later” will be a haunting contemplation of the long-term consequences of a terrible pandemic that has caused a civilization to almost completely collapse.
The presence of A-list actors such as Aaron Taylor‑Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O'Connell promises to bring commercial and artistic value to "28 years later".
With the legacy left by “28 Days Later” and “28 Weeks Later”, and directed by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, this new film is expected to become the zombie blockbuster with the highest opening revenue since “World War Z” (2013) - a zombie film with a global opening revenue of over 66 million USD.
