3 passport processing locations in Ho Chi Minh City after the merger.

Following the reorganization of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department, the city now has 3 locations for receiving passport applications, effective from July 1st.

Many people in Ho Chi Minh City are wondering where they can apply for passports after the merger. Responding to a reporter from Thanh Nien newspaper, the Immigration Management Department (Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) stated that the Ho Chi Minh City Police currently has three locations for receiving passport applications from residents following the merger.

Following the merger and reorganization of the police forces of three localities: Ho Chi Minh City Police, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police, and Binh Duong Provincial Police, the Ho Chi Minh City Police now has 213 units with 35 functional departments, 167 commune-level police stations, 1 special zone, and 10 police posts.

On the first day of implementing the two-tiered local government model (provincial and commune levels), on July 1st alone, the Immigration Management Department received over 1,000 applications for passports and nearly 200 applications for visas, extensions of temporary residence permits, or temporary residence cards in Vietnam for foreigners.

Specifically, here are the three addresses for passport application services for residents of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger:

  1. No. 196 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City
  2. No. 239 Ngo Gia Tu Street, Thu Dau Mot Ward, Ho Chi Minh City
  3. No. 120 Pham Hung Street, Ba Ria Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Residents of Ho Chi Minh City can apply for passports from the comfort of their homes.

Residents of Ho Chi Minh City can register for the issuance or renewal of ordinary passports on the national public service portal by following the steps below.

  • Step 1: Access dichvucong.gov.vn, then log in, or register an account if you don't already have one.
  • Step 2: After logging in, select the Passport Application service and submit your application.

- Upload a 4x6 cm passport-sized photo with a white background, and photos of the front and back of your identity card (as instructed on the registration screen).

Citizens can submit passport applications at 196 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, and at two locations in Thu Dau Mot and Ba Ria wards.

- Fill in all the required information in the columns.

- Register where you will receive your passport

- Upload the required attachments (if any).

- If the passport is still valid, it must be submitted in person or sent by mail to the immigration authority that receives the application.

- Awaiting approval.

  • Step 3: Pay the fee online

After the application is accepted, the applicant must pay the fee online via a link sent by the national public service portal via text message or email.

  • Step 4: Return the results

Results are delivered according to the citizen's prior registration request. Citizens can receive them directly at the immigration office or have them delivered to their registered address.

Passports will be issued within 8 working days if the application is processed at the local Immigration Management Office, or 5 working days if the application is processed at the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security .
