Responding to Thanh Nien reporters, the Immigration Department (Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said that currently, Ho Chi Minh City Police have 3 locations to receive passport applications for people after the merger.

After the police of 3 localities including: Ho Chi Minh City Police, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police and Binh Duong Provincial Police merged and reorganized their apparatus, Ho Chi Minh City Police now has 213 focal points with 35 functional professional departments, 167 commune-level police, 1 special zone and 10 police stations.

On the first day of implementing the 2-level local government model (provincial and communal levels), on July 1 alone, the Immigration Department received more than 1,000 passport applications, nearly 200 visa applications, temporary residence extensions or temporary residence cards in Vietnam for foreigners.

Specifically, 3 addresses for passport making for Ho Chi Minh City residents after the merger are as follows:

1. No. 196 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City
2. No. 239 Ngo Gia Tu, Thu Dau Mot Ward, Ho Chi Minh City
3. No. 120 Pham Hung, Ba Ria Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City residents can make passports at home

Ho Chi Minh City residents can register for issuance and exchange of ordinary passports on the national public service portal following the steps below.

• Step 1: Visit dichvucong.gov.vn, then log in, or register for an account if you don't have one.
• Step 2: After logging in, select the Passport Issuance service and submit your application.

- Upload a 4x6 cm portrait photo with a white background, front and back of your ID card (follow the instructions on the application registration screen)

People submit passport applications at 196 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Xuan Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh City and 2 locations in Thu Dau Mot ward and Ba Ria ward.

• Step 3: Pay the fee online

After the application is accepted, the applicant must pay the fee online via the link sent by the national public service portal via text message or email.

• Step 4: Return results

The results are returned upon request of the citizen who registered previously. Citizens can receive them directly at the immigration authority or have them delivered to their registered address.

Passport will be issued within 8 working days if processed at the local Immigration Department, 5 working days if processed at the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security .
