Will all three Real Madrid captains have to leave?

Former goalkeeper Santi Canizares has caused a stir by suggesting that Real Madrid should part ways with all three captains: Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, and Dani Carvajal.

Vinicius and Real's two captains have been heavily criticized.

In the program El Debate de La Pizarra , former Spanish national team goalkeeper Canizares frankly criticized Real Madrid's current leadership. According to him, the biggest problem for the team is not tactics but internal disintegration.

"The heart of the dressing room has failed. That is directly related to the captains," Canizares stated.

The first player targeted was Dani Carvajal. The former star believed the veteran defender no longer had enough influence due to his frequent absences because of injuries.

"Carvajal's contract should not be extended," he said succinctly.

Canizares then turned his criticism to Federico Valverde. According to him, the Uruguayan midfielder was too quiet and failed to demonstrate leadership during a period of turmoil within the team.

"Valverde didn't act like a captain. He even created more conflict at a sensitive time," the former goalkeeper commented.

The harshest criticism was directed at Vinicius Junior. Canizares argued that the Brazilian star put his ego above the team and did not reflect the true image of Real Madrid.

Canizares believes that fans want to see a Real Madrid with greater value and class, rather than Vinicius responding to his rivals by showing off the number of Champions League titles the club has won.

Canizares also revealed that one of the reasons he wanted Vinicius put on the transfer market was that the player had not yet renewed his contract with Real Madrid.

Conversely, the former Spanish goalkeeper believes that Thibaut Courtois deserves to be the team's new captain due to his professionalism and consistent behavior.
