31 outstanding journalistic works were awarded prizes.

VHO - On the evening of May 19th, in Hanoi, the People's Army Newspaper, in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank, held a ceremony to summarize and award prizes for the 5th (2025-2026) writing contest "Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in the New Situation" and launched the 6th writing contest (2026-2027).

The closing ceremony and awards presentation for the 5th "Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in the New Situation" writing contest (2025-2026) and the launch of the 6th contest (2026-2027) took place on the evening of May 19th in Hanoi .

The program was organized under the direction of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defence , and the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, in commemoration of the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth.

Attending the ceremony were members of the Politburo : Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang; Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Trinh Van Quyet; Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, General Nguyen Trong Nghia; and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy Doan Minh Huan.

Also attending were members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam: General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and Deputy Minister of National Defense; Tran Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department and Director General of Vietnam Television; and representatives from agencies and units inside and outside the military.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of the General Political Department, and Head of the Steering Committee of the competition, assessed that after 5 years of organization, the competition has increasingly spread widely, attracting a large number of press agencies, journalists, scientists, officials, and Party members to participate.

The competition is an activity with profound socio-political significance, demonstrating the keen political thinking, proactive spirit, responsibility, and fortitude of revolutionary journalism in concretizing Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW, dated October 22, 2018, of the Politburo (12th term) on "Strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation and combating erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new situation" into practical social life.

General Truong Thien To, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of the General Political Department, and Head of the Steering Committee of the competition, delivered a speech at the program.

The competition has also become a profound forum for political commentary, bringing together the intellect, dedication, political responsibility, and professional competence of journalists in defending the Party's ideological foundation, contributing to clarifying the scientific and revolutionary value of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; defending the correctness of the reform line and the path to socialism; and strengthening the confidence of cadres, Party members, and the people in the Party's leadership.

The widespread impact of the competition has awakened a sense of responsibility throughout society towards protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

General Phan Van Giang and Comrade Trinh Van Quyet presented awards to the winning teams of authors for the A Prize.

General Truong Thien To suggested that press agencies inside and outside the military continue to thoroughly understand their functions, tasks, and political responsibilities on the ideological and cultural front, truly being the core force in propaganda, guiding public opinion, and protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation.

Actively and vigorously innovate the content, form, and methods of propaganda towards a modern, professional, distinctive, and persuasive direction; closely follow the realities of social life, vividly reflect the reform process, spread positive values, new factors, and advanced models, contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, the Army, and our regime.

General Nguyen Trong Nghia and Associate Professor Dr. Doan Minh Huan presented awards to the authors and groups of authors who won the B Prize.

He also emphasized the need to focus on improving the quality of political commentary works, enhancing the depth of theory linked to practice, and strengthening the ability to guide thought, thereby creating social resistance against harmful, toxic, and deviant information flows on the internet.

In the context of rapid digital transformation and multi-platform communication, revolutionary journalism needs to continue to maintain its leading role in information dissemination; ensuring responsiveness while maintaining accuracy, timeliness while staying on track, and attractiveness while adhering to standards; harmoniously combining the tasks of propaganda and education with the task of building Vietnamese culture and people in the new era.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong and Comrade Le Quoc Minh presented awards to the authors and groups of authors who won the C Prize.

"Every press agency and every revolutionary journalist truly possesses 'a pure heart, an upright mind, and a sharp pen'; they are pioneering fighters on the ideological and cultural front of the Party," said General Truong Thien To.

He emphasized that every work must take truth as its yardstick, and the national interest and the happiness of the people as its highest goal; strongly promote the Party spirit, fighting spirit, humanistic values, and social responsibility of revolutionary journalism to spread what is right, protect the truth, strengthen faith, and enhance social consensus; contributing to maintaining the Party's ideological front, firmly protecting the Party, the State, the people, and the socialist regime in the new situation.

Comrade Tran Thanh Lam and Lieutenant General Le Van Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, presented awards to the authors and groups of authors who won the Encouragement Prize.

According to the organizers, the 5th competition received 651 entries from 72 media outlets, an increase of 110 entries and 21 media outlets compared to the 4th competition. While the first competition had 30 participating media outlets, the 5th competition attracted 72 entries, a 2.4-fold increase.

The submitted works closely adhered to the theme and regulations of the competition, comprehensively and richly addressing the content of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation, in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2018, of the Politburo of the 12th Party Congress.

The General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army awarded 9 Certificates of Commendation to 9 collectives that have made significant contributions to the competition over the past 5 years.

After five editions, the competition has continuously expanded in scale, enhanced its stature, and become a professional, prestigious "platform" with increasing appeal, reach, and influence in the country's journalistic life. The number of entries and participating media outlets has consistently increased year after year.

Over the past five years, more than 2,800 entries from 243 media outlets nationwide have been submitted to the competition. Approximately 45% of these entries were from experts, scientists, and military leaders. The competition contributes to connecting, mobilizing, and amplifying the strength of media outlets across the country in the work of propaganda, struggle, and protection of the ideological foundation of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

At the event, the organizers presented 31 outstanding works were awarded, including prizes for central newspapers; prizes for local newspapers; and prizes for magazines, among which were: 3 A prizes, 6 B prizes, 9 C prizes, and 13 Encouragement prizes.

Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, launched the 6th "Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in the New Situation" writing competition (2026-2027).

The three A prizes were awarded to the following works:

Civilianization of the military - A poisonous arrow in the "peaceful evolution" strategy by authors Nguyen Hong Hai, Nguyen Van Duyen, and Pham Van Hieu (People's Army Newspaper);

No one has the right to tear this map, created by the team of authors Dong Viet Thang and Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi (Tay Ninh Newspaper and Radio-Television), into two pieces .

Identifying the plots and tactics of hostile forces exploiting incidents and hotspots to create the risk of a "color revolution" in Vietnam by the group of authors Dao Ngoc Tuoc, Lai Duy Cuong, Le Trung Kien, Le Dinh Hai, Nguyen Thi Minh Hue, Pham Van Cuong (Viet-American Magazine).

On this occasion, the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army awarded 9 Certificates of Commendation to 9 collectives that have made many positive contributions to the competition over the past 5 years.

Also at the awards ceremony, the Organizing Committee launched the 6th "Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in the New Situation" writing contest (2026-2027). The contest rules are published on the People's Army Newspaper's online platform at: www.qdnd.vn.

The closing ceremony and awards presentation combined documentaries and revolutionary songs praising the glorious Party, the great President Ho Chi Minh, and love for the homeland, with the participation of People's Artist Hong Hanh and artists and actors from the Army Song and Dance Theatre.
