Speaking at the event, FES Secretary General Sabine Fandrych said: FES is the first German political organization to be present in Vietnam since 1990. Just one year later, the organization organized the first 10 events. By 1995, this number increased to 25 seminars per year.
During its operations, FES has worked closely with central agencies, research institutes and leading universities in Vietnam, implementing many capacity building and policy research programs with key topics including climate policy and socio-ecological transition. FES maintains a nationwide network of activities, affirming its commitment to accompany Vietnam's development.
2011 marked an important milestone when FES contributed to establishing an annual dialogue between the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the Communist Party of Vietnam . The annual dialogues between the two parties have created conditions for exchange, promoting mutual understanding and seeking opportunities for cooperation.

These activities, according to Ms. Schmidtke, not only support the Vietnam - Germany relationship but also contribute to promoting deeper cooperation between the two countries.
In the coming time, Ms. Schmidtke said, FES will continue its mission of promoting dialogue and connecting people, creating opportunities for exchanges beyond the traditional diplomatic framework.
