According to the Department of Transport, to date, contractors constructing the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet – Dau Giay sections have repaired 11 sections, leaving 36 sections yet to be repaired. In Tuy Phong district, one section of the Cam Lam – Vinh Hao section, managed by Binh Thuan Irrigation Engineering Construction Company Limited, was damaged due to the transportation of construction materials. Currently, the contractor is carrying out repairs and patching during use, and it is expected to be returned to the managing unit by the end of the first quarter of 2024. Six sections of the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet section were damaged due to the transportation of construction materials. Currently, after reviewing the sections under the Department of Transport's management, the contractors have repaired and returned six sections managed by the district and Binh Thuan Irrigation Engineering Construction Company Limited.
In Bac Binh district, 19 sections of road have been damaged due to the transportation of materials for the construction of the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet expressway. The People's Committee of Bac Binh District and the Department of Transport (for road sections managed by the Department of Transport) have inspected and reviewed one section under the district's management, which has been repaired and restored by the expressway contractor; the remaining 18 sections have not yet been repaired and restored (including 15 sections under the district's management and 3 sections under the Department of Transport's management). In Ham Thuan Bac District, there are 7 sections damaged due to the transportation of materials for the construction of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway. Currently, through inspections by the Department of Transport (for road sections under the Department of Transport's management) and the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Bac District, the construction contractor has not yet repaired these sections (5 sections under the district's management, 2 sections under the Department of Transport's management). According to the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Bac District, the district has worked with and agreed with Project Management Board 7 to repair these sections before December 15, 2023. In Ham Thuan Nam District, there are 9 sections. Damage to road sections caused by the transportation of construction materials for the expressway includes: 4 sections of the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet section and 5 sections of the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay section. In the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet section, the contractor has not yet repaired 4 sections (2 sections managed by the district, 1 section managed by Binh Thuan Irrigation Engineering Construction Company Limited, and 1 section managed by the Department of Transport). In the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay section, the contractor has repaired 3 sections. Two sections remain unrepaired: 1 section managed by the district and 1 section managed by Binh Thuan Irrigation Engineering Construction Company Limited. In Ham Tan district, 6 road sections were damaged due to the transportation of construction materials for the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay expressway. Currently, according to the report of the Ham Tan District People's Committee and the review results of the Department of Transport (for road sections managed by the Department of Transport), the contractor has repaired 1 section. One section of the route is under repair, while four sections remain unrepaired (three of which are managed by the district and one by the Department of Transport).
During meetings with constituents, people in the province expressed considerable frustration over the slow progress of construction and repair work on local roads. The Provincial People's Committee has repeatedly conducted on-site inspections and met with relevant units to urge them to speed up the progress and restore the roads for the people as soon as possible. The two Project Management Boards, Project Management Unit 7 and Thang Long Management Board, have also promised the province that they will urge contractors to accelerate the progress, but to date, many sections and routes remain uncompleted or are being constructed at a very slow pace…
