4 valedictorians of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology share how to get "perfect" scores

(Dan Tri) - The valedictorians of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology are not dry "bookworms". They balance between studying and playing, participating in training and entertainment activities.

Every admission season, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University welcomes promising valedictorians. In 2025, students will not only stand out for their excellent achievements but also for their courage to overcome challenges and their desire to reach knowledge.

Three out of four valedictorians chose Electricity - Electronics, the remaining student chose Computer Science .

Among them, Le Minh Khoi, a former student of Nguyen Trai High School ( Khanh Hoa ), attracted attention when he became the valedictorian of the comprehensive admission method.

Khoi's result in the recent exam was 1,112 competency assessment points (AAP) with 300 absolute math points, and 27.25 points on the high school graduation exam.

“What makes me really happy is the feeling that the long journey I have gone through with all my efforts has finally been recognized,” Khoi expressed.

With seriousness and discipline, Khoi always builds a clear plan, focuses on consolidating theory, practicing questions and reviewing comprehensively.

Admitted to the Computer Science major, Khoi said his passion for technology started in 10th grade. At that time, he started to tinker with programming and realized that he could sit in front of the computer for hours without getting bored. From that interest, Khoi was determined to pursue this major.

Also putting all his love into math, Mai Quang Minh Tri, a math major student at Hue National School, was not only the valedictorian of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's entrance exam but also the second runner-up in the school's overall admission exam.

After scoring 1047 points on his first attempt, Tri was determined to retake the exam. “There is still one more attempt, one more chance to improve, so why not try?” Tri said.

It was that determination that helped the male student achieve 1122 points in the National Test with a perfect score in math.

Talking about the challenges and failures he has experienced, Tri believes: "Only knowing how to try, persevere and learn from failure is the key to success on the new path."

That is also the motivation that helps Tri to be determined in studying and strive for the goals he has set for himself.

However, Tri always sets aside reasonable time for rest and relaxation. This is also the secret that helps him pass the exam with the expected results.

“I still try to play games, although not much, and if I have the chance, I will go out with my family and friends to create more beautiful memories for my final year,” Tri shared.

If Minh Khoi and Minh Tri stood out in the National High School Exam, Lam Minh Huy, a former student of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted (Dak Lak), impressed with his high school exam results. With 29.75 points in block A00, Huy became the national runner-up and the Dak Lak province valedictorian.

Sharing his secret, Huy emphasized the “slow and steady” approach. In addition to focusing on studying, he must spend the rest of his time resting and entertaining.

Huy also applies the method of dividing goals into small parts to both complete them effectively and not put pressure on himself.

On the path to conquering knowledge, Huy is not alone but always has the support of his family and teachers. In the upcoming lecture hall, he aims to win a scholarship and participate in scientific research to prepare for his journey to conquer knowledge.

With the same score of 29.75 points in block A00, Vo Truong Gia Huan, the valedictorian of Ca Mau, is also the national salutatorian.

Huan admitted that pressure is a motivation: “There is pressure, but it helps me focus more. When I received the results as the top student in the province and the second best student in the country, I was both happy and grateful to the teachers and family who accompanied me throughout the preparation time.”

Regarding the near-perfect score, Huan said he was not too surprised by the result. Huan had a long preparation process and learned from his own experience through practicing questions, so he was quite confident when entering the exam room.

Initially oriented to study at a military school, Huan eventually chose the Electrical - Electronics major. He hopes to be able to participate in research and practical projects to nurture his long-term passion for this field.

Clear goals, discipline and perseverance in the face of challenges are the secrets for valedictorians to achieve remarkable results.

At the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year, the President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology presented certificates of merit and 25 million VND from the sponsor to 4 valedictorians.
