In the first 5 months, Lao Cai province collected over 9,600 billion VND in budget revenue.

According to the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Finance, total state budget revenue in the province during the first five months of 2026 reached VND 9,625 billion, equivalent to 55% of the central government's projected target and 41% of the provincial People's Council's projected target. This result exceeds the projected revenue for the first five months by 40% and is a 35% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Lao Cai is proactively addressing difficulties and obstacles for businesses in the industrial and mining sectors in the province to maintain production.

Of the total state budget revenue of 9,625 billion VND, balanced budget revenue reached 5,622 billion VND, revenue from land use fees reached 2,239 billion VND, revenue from import-export activities reached 1,160 billion VND, revenue from mineral exploitation contributions reached 567 billion VND, and revenue from lottery reached 37 billion VND.

Businesses in the province have maintained stable production and business operations, contributing to increased state budget revenue.

The budget revenue results for the first five months of 2026 show many positive signs, with total revenue significantly increasing compared to the same period last year. Of the 19 revenue items monitored, 11 exceeded the five-month target, 12 increased compared to the same period in 2025, and 4 did not generate revenue but still met the targets set in the scenario.

Key construction projects in the province are being prioritized to accelerate their progress.

At the grassroots level, 80 out of 99 localities met or exceeded their budget revenue targets for the first five months of the year. Notably, the entire province had 131 enterprises and units that contributed over 10 billion VND to the budget, with total revenue reaching 3,064 billion VND, equivalent to 43.2% of the annual budget estimate.

Import and export activities through Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II (Lao Cai) continue to maintain positive growth momentum.

In May alone, several unexpected revenue streams significantly contributed to the province's overall budget revenue. Notably, revenue from mineral exploitation activities reached 505 billion VND. In addition, revenue from newly established businesses also increased considerably, with Viglacera Real Estate Business Company contributing 17 billion VND, An Tien Industries Joint Stock Company contributing 19.3 billion VND, and Yen Bai European Plastic Joint Stock Company contributing 13 billion VND.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the O Quy Ho Tea Hill Eco-Urban Area Project (EcoSapa) was held at the end of April 2026, opening up new momentum for urban and tourism development in Sa Pa.

According to the financial sector's assessment, the budget revenue results achieved in the first five months of the year are an important prerequisite for Lao Cai to strive to complete the state budget revenue target for 2026.
