50 people promptly extinguished the fire spreading into the forest.

On the evening of May 1, Mr. Vu Manh Dinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Duc Co district, Gia Lai province, said that the authorities and local people had just extinguished a large-scale fire in the area.

Previously, at around 3:00 p.m. the same day, at lot 25, compartment 1, sub-area 664 in the administrative boundary of Neh village, Ia Din commune, Duc Co district, people were burning and clearing the ground when a strong wind blew, causing the fire to flare up violently and spread into the natural forest.

Immediately after discovering the incident, Ia Din commune officials, along with the militia and self-defense forces, and Neh village residents, with a total of about 50 people, used on-site fire fighting equipment to put out the fire.

At around 7:00 p.m. the same day, with the efforts of the forces, the fire was controlled, prevented from spreading and then completely extinguished.

Preliminary statistics from local authorities show that the burned area is about 5-6 hectares, mainly vegetation burning to clear fields (forest land, people have exploited and are clearing the land) and the fire has spread to a small amount of natural forest (light fire).

Currently, authorities are making detailed statistics of the damage caused by the fire to serve as a basis for handling the next steps.
