On May 24th, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province announced the issuance of a plan to organize the Dak Lak Durian Festival in 2026 with the theme "Dak Lak Durian - Connecting and Reaching Further".
The event is scheduled to take place from August 15th to September 2nd, 2026 in Buon Ma Thuot ward, Krong Pak commune, Tuy Hoa ward, Ea Knuec and Cu M'gar communes, and many other key durian-growing areas in the province.
This is the first time Dak Lak has organized a provincial-level festival, with the expectation of creating momentum to boost exports, develop tourism , and promote the local durian brand to the international market.
The highlight of this year's festival is the aim to set a series of large-scale records, linked to promoting agricultural products and developing tourism. Notable achievements include a record-breaking convoy of 500 pickup trucks promoting durian, the largest durian tower in Vietnam, a "durian road," a durian product auction, and a grand music festival. In addition, the festival will showcase 101 dishes made from durian, creating a unique culinary space with a strong local flavor.
Beyond simply showcasing and celebrating agricultural products, the 2026 festival is designed to integrate agriculture, tourism, and digital commerce. Numerous experiential activities will be organized, such as durian orchard tours, durian auctions at the farms, photo-taking spaces, and live-streamed sales programs directly from the growing regions, featuring domestic and international KOLs and KOCs.
The organizers expect the event to attract around 300,000 visitors, contributing to stimulating tourism, services, and the consumption of local agricultural products. The series of activities, lasting nearly three weeks, is expected to enhance experiences, extend the length of stay, and create a strong ripple effect for the image of Dak Lak.
Previously, durian was honored by the People's Committee of Krông Pắk District (formerly), Đắk Lắk Province, through two festivals (the first in 2022, the second in 2024). From 2026 onwards, the Durian Festival will be upgraded to a provincial-level event, held every two years.
