The strange city mentioned above is called Lima, the capital of the Republic of Peru.

According to scientists , more than 600 years since the last rain fell, Lima has had almost no rain, lightning or storms. Data recorded by the meteorological agency shows that each year the total rainfall in Lima is only about 15mm.

This is less than a fifth of the average rainfall in the Sahara Desert - one of the driest regions in the world .

Rain here usually comes in the form of mist that moistens the ground, not drops. So people in Lima never need to carry raincoats or umbrellas when going out. The city doesn’t even need sewers. Many houses in Lima are designed without roofs, and some are made of cardboard.

Lima's population is approximately 9.12 million, living in 33 districts. More than 90% of Lima's population is known as mestizo, people of mixed European and Native American descent, along with white, black and Asian minorities, of which Japanese are the most numerous.

The strangeness of Lima attracts many scientists to come and learn.

According to hydrometeorological experts, the reason Lima does not have rain is because this city has a very special geographical location. Lima is located on the eastern slope of the Andes mountain range, which is also the highest mountain in South America.

Lima is located on the edge of the subtropical highlands of the South Pacific Ocean , in the tropics but is affected by the cold air currents of the Peruvian Current. Therefore, the water vapor in the city when evaporated is blocked by the cold air currents, cannot condense into cumulonimbus clouds, so it cannot cause rain. In return, the air in Lima is not dry but very humid because of the large amount of water vapor.

Lima is near the sea, and has the Mark River next to it, so the underground water source is extremely abundant, never causing water shortages.

In addition, people in Lima also exploit the water for daily life from the Aprikh River, which is formed by the melting of ice in the Andes. Not only is the water source sufficient for daily life, but it also provides for lush vegetation.
