63 films will participate in the Da Nang Asian Film Festival 2024.

On the afternoon of July 1st, in Da Nang , the Organizing Committee of the 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival 2024 (DANAFF 2024) held a press conference to introduce the film festival.

Following the success of the first Da Nang Asian Film Festival, the Da Nang City People's Committee continues to direct the Vietnam Film Promotion Association (VFDA) to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Culture and Sports , the Department of Tourism, other departments and agencies of Da Nang City, UNIMedia Company, and other units to organize DANAFF II from July 2-6, 2024 in Da Nang.

Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Film Promotion Association and Director of DANAFF 2024, provided information about the DANAFF II Film Festival.

Ms. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Film Development Promotion Association and Director of DANAFF 2024, stated that the film festival will select and honor outstanding cinematic works that are rich in humanistic values, offer fresh discoveries, and possess unique artistic expression; encourage talent; and widely introduce to the public new cinematic works of high value in content and artistry from Vietnamese cinema, the Asia-Pacific region, and selected films from world cinema.

A total of 63 films participated in the categories and programs of DANAFF II, including: 13 films in the Asian Films competition category, 10 films in the Vietnamese Films competition category, 18 films in the "Vietnamese Cinema Today" program, 8 films in the "Focus on French Cinema" program, 7 films in the selected films by director Dang Nhat Minh program, 4 films in the Da Nang films program, and 3 films in the Varan documentary program.

The DANAFF 2024 program takes place over 5 days with many outstanding events. The highlight of the film festival is the competition between films in two categories: "Asian In-Competition Films" and "Vietnamese In-Competition Films," with a judging panel consisting of experts in Vietnamese and international cinema.

Notably, for the first time in Vietnam, DANAFF 2024 will award a Cinematic Achievement Award to an outstanding filmmaker. The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) is one of the international partners accompanying the Da Nang Asian Film Festival.

The film screening program includes a total of 103 screenings at Le Do, CGV, Galaxy, and Starlight cinemas, as well as outdoor screenings at Lien Chieu District Administrative Park (July 3rd), Nhu Nguyet Street (July 4th), and Bach Dang Pedestrian Street (July 5th).

Workshops and seminars such as the "French Cinema and its Relationship with Vietnamese Cinema" workshop (8:30 AM on July 3rd); the "Sharing Experiences in Connecting Coastal Film Festivals" seminar (4:00 PM on July 3rd); the "Creative Style of Director Dang Nhat Minh" seminar (9:00 AM on July 4th); the "Film Production Collaboration - International Experience and Development Solutions" workshop (9:00 AM on July 5th); and the "Nurturing Talent" workshop...

In addition, there will be a meet-and-greet program between the audience and the film crew; and a program featuring interactions between famous artists and the audience...

Films by People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh will be screened free of charge at DANAFF 2024.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, said that the films participating in the Festival, selected from many film industries, will surely bring audiences new and impressive experiences, allowing them to discover and enjoy high-quality films with rich content and artistic merit.

According to Mr. Cuong, the non-competition film screening program will continue to be a highlight, featuring famous works from French, Korean, and many other countries. At the same time, meet-and-greet events between film crews and audiences, and interviews with film stars will provide opportunities for audiences to directly engage with beloved artistic talents.
