In partnership with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the National Expanded Immunization Program in 2024, national carrier Vietnam Airlines said it will transport vaccines free of charge on flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Cam Ranh, and Buon Ma Thuot. The activity aims to support the rapid, timely, and safe supply of vaccines to localities this year.

It is expected that about 7.4 million doses of various vaccines will be transported free of charge by Vietnam Airlines, weighing approximately 20 tons. The first flights will depart in January.
“Vietnam Airlines is always ready to contribute to the work of taking care of people's health and limiting the risk of dangerous epidemics. That is also one of the goals set out in the role of the national airline in fulfilling its social responsibility, bringing good values and benefits to the community,” said Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines.
The Expanded Immunization Program has been implemented nationwide in Vietnam since 1985, including the provision of vaccines to localities to implement free vaccination for children and pregnant women. Every year, millions of children and pregnant women are vaccinated free of charge against dangerous infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B, polio, measles, rubella, Japanese encephalitis, pneumonia and purulent meningitis caused by Hib bacteria.
Medical support activities are part of the Flights of Love campaign that Vietnam Airlines has been implementing for many years. The airline has actively coordinated with domestic and foreign medical agencies to carry out many activities such as: transporting organs to bring life to patients, supporting surgeries to bring smiles to children with disabilities; connecting training to improve professional skills for Vietnamese doctors and medical staff, etc.
Previously, during the period affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam Airlines was also a pioneer in transporting vaccines to prevent the pandemic both domestically and internationally. At the same time, the airline also transported dozens of tons of medical supplies and more than 15,000 doctors, nurses, and logistics staff to participate in the fight against the pandemic during this period.
