EVN has identified 9 devices that silently "consume" electricity that consumers pay little attention to.

Electric stove

The first device to mention is the electric stove. With a usage time of about 3 hours/day, in 1 month, users spend 85-95 kWh with a single stove and 170-190 kWh with a double stove. Temporarily calculating according to the average retail electricity price of 1,920 VND/kWh, the electricity cost for a single stove is up to more than 182,000 VND/month and for a double stove is 365,000 VND/month.

Water heater

With a 20-liter water heater, if it is turned on for only 1 hour a day, the estimated amount of electricity consumed per month is 70-80 kWh. If the heater is turned on 24/7, the water heater will consume 320-340 kWh of electricity per month (costing from 614,400 VND to 652,800 VND).

With a refrigerator, the device is always on 24/7, a mini fridge only costs 10-15 kWh/month, a medium fridge costs 30-45 kWh/month and a large fridge costs 50-65 kWh/month.

In addition to the nine appliances listed above, many consumers question the energy consumption of new appliances such as clothes dryers, dishwashers, and ovens.

According to the survey, if you use a clothes dryer every day, the monthly electricity consumption is 125 kWh (about 240,000 VND). With a dishwasher, if used twice a day, it will consume an average of 48 kWh (about 92,000 VND) per month; and the electricity consumption of a small oven, used for 2 hours a day, is 20 kWh/month (about 38,400 VND), and a large one is 41 kWh/month (about 79,000 VND).
