In the early morning of May 27, Ronaldo's Al Nassr lost to Al Fateh with a score of 2-3 in the final round of the Saudi Pro League (Saudi Arabia Championship).
It seemed that this defeat would leave them in 4th place with 67 points, 1 point behind the third-placed team Al Qadsiah, but a surprise happened when they were awarded 3 points. Al Nassr raised their total score to 70 and officially ranked 3rd overall at the end of the 2024-2025 Saudi Pro League season.
Specifically, Ronaldo's team successfully appealed the loss to Al-Oruba in round 23 on February 28 on the grounds that the opponent used an ineligible goalkeeper.
The Saudi Arabian Center for Arbitration for Sport ruled in favour of Al Nassr, awarding them a 3-0 win and three points for the controversial match.
Ronaldo's side lodged a formal protest over Al-Ruwaili's involvement, presenting what the refereeing panel considered compelling evidence of the goalkeeper's ineligibility.

However, this position still does not guarantee Al Nassr a ticket to the AFC Champions League Two next season. Unless, Al Ittihad wins the Saudi Arabia King's Cup.
The Portuguese superstar continued to have a failed season with Al Nassr, going trophyless for the third year, and also failing to participate in Asia's highest club tournament (Champions League Elite).
However, Ronaldo still showed his excellence when he won the Golden Boot award with 25 goals. With the decline of Al Nassr, many speculate that the 40-year-old striker will move to another team in the Saudi Pro League, or a team with a ticket to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 taking place in the US this June.
