Gianluigi Donnarumma officially says goodbye to PSG fans. |
Despite confirming his departure from the club in early August, it was not until two weeks later that Donnarumma was allowed by PSG's board of directors to appear at the Parc des Princes to say goodbye to PSG fans.
The match saw PSG win 1-0 thanks to Fabian Ruiz’s goal in the 50th minute, but attention was then focused on Donnarumma’s farewell. After the final whistle, the 26-year-old goalkeeper walked out to the centre of the pitch, bowed and waved to the crowd, to a standing ovation from the 45,000 or so fans present.
Donnarumma, with emotion on his face, said: “Thank you for everything. PSG gave me the best memories, and I will always be grateful for your love. See you again!”.
This farewell marks the end of an important chapter in his career, and at the same time shows that the Italian goalkeeper seems to be about to find a new destination this summer.
Manchester City are stepping up their efforts to sign Donnarumma before the 2025 summer transfer window closes, while Manchester United and many other Serie A clubs are also keen on negotiating to own this goalkeeper.
At 26, Donnarumma is still one of the world's top goalkeepers, with many excellent performances and many unbelievable saves in big matches.
