An Giang solves the problem of double-digit growth

Efforts in the new government's operational phase

According to the Provincial People's Committee, in the first 7 months of 2025, the province's economy continued to grow well with a total GRDP estimated to increase by 8.12% (higher than the national average, ranked 15th out of 34 provinces). The Industrial Development Index (IIP) in 7 months increased by 13.8% over the same period. The industrial production value was more than 60,840 billion VND, up 13.08% over the same period.

Total retail sales of goods and service revenue increased by 17.5% over the same period; total budget revenue reached VND 15,335 billion, reaching 67.5% of the estimate. The number of newly established enterprises increased by 12.5%. Disbursement of public investment capital by July 31, 2025 was more than VND 7,776 billion, reaching 36.5% of the capital plan assigned by the Prime Minister ; 16 new projects were granted with a total registered capital of VND 24,242 billion.

In particular, after the merger of An Giang and Kien Giang, An Giang tourism continued to affirm its position as a major tourist center of the region with a total of more than 16.3 million visitors to An Giang in the first 7 months of the year, an increase of 16.2% over the same period, of which international visitors accounted for more than 1 million. Revenue from tourism activities increased by 92.2% over the same period. Total export turnover was more than 1.033 billion USD. The operation of the 2-level local government was smooth, meeting the needs of the people. National key projects and works were directed and managed to accelerate the implementation progress.

In addition to the achieved results, there are still many challenges in the coming time to be able to complete the growth target. The value of public investment disbursement has not reached the set plan; the implementation of the national target program for ethnic minority and mountainous areas is still slow, with low disbursement, reaching only 23.37%. The adjustment of general planning and local planning in Phu Quoc special economic zone is still slow. The operation of the commune-level public administrative service center is initially effective but still limited in terms of facilities, transmission lines, professional staff... not serving the best needs of the people... thereby posing many problems for the province.

Many key solutions

In the last months of the year, to maintain double-digit growth, the province focused on directing all levels, sectors and localities to synchronously implement solutions to promote economic growth, attract investment, and support production and business of key industrial enterprises. Closely monitor and grasp the economic development situation in all sectors and fields. Strengthen the development of the processing industry, especially deep processing to increase added value, strongly promote new growth drivers. Effectively implement the 4 key Resolutions of the Politburo (Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW), in line with the characteristics of the new An Giang province. The province has stronger, more drastic and timely solutions, promptly overcome bottlenecks and limitations, and accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital.

In particular, exploiting new potentials and development space based on 3 economic pillars: Marine economy associated with services - marine tourism and development of coastal cities; border trade economy and agricultural economy in the direction of focusing on in-depth production, improving product quality and value associated with deep processing and refined processing industries. Focusing on building Phu Quoc and special zones into green, ecological, environmentally friendly and sustainable development zones, building Kien Hai special zone into one of the province's marine economic centers with a suitable model, including developing community-based marine and island tourism, marine farming and processing to serve tourists on the spot; at the same time, providing logistics for Phu Quoc special zone, developing connecting traffic to Tho Chau special zone, sustainably exploiting the potential of marine and island tourism, and sustainable marine farming.

Comrade Ho Van Mung suggested that all levels and sectors urgently implement the conclusions and directions of the Central and Provincial Party Committee leaders; urge, inspect and effectively implement the growth scenario; closely monitor each field, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, especially remove difficulties to help businesses operate effectively. Make a stronger breakthrough in innovation thinking, "both strictly manage and create new spaces, new room and maximize resource mobilization for development". Strongly improve the investment and business environment, enhance provincial competitiveness (PCI), support businesses and attract investment.

Banks effectively implement credit programs and policies, directing capital flows into production, business, priority areas, and growth drivers. In an effort to attract investment, provincial leaders worked with corporations: Alphanam, Vingroup, Sun Group... to listen to investment proposals and project implementation progress. Provincial leaders affirmed that the province always creates the most favorable conditions based on planning and strictly complies with legal regulations to attract investment resources; remove difficulties and obstacles, speed up investment preparation progress, and implement key transport infrastructure projects.

With a series of economic infrastructure development investment projects, attracting many large corporations to invest and 21 key projects serving the APEC Conference implemented by the province, it will create a historic turning point in developing Phu Quoc into an international tourism center. This is a "lever" to attract investment, increase tourism, services and comprehensive development in all fields, realizing the aspiration of making An Giang a strong maritime economic center of the country by 2030.
