On May 17th, in the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, An Giang province will hold a conference to announce the 2026 Planning and Investment Promotion, themed “An Giang - New Space, New Vision, New Success”. Ahead of the conference, reporters from the An Giang Provincial Newspaper and Radio & Television interviewed Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, about the preparations for this important event.

Reporter : Sir, could you please tell us about the preparations for the An Giang province's 2026 planning announcement and investment promotion conference?

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong : The province has been carrying out preparations for the 2026 An Giang Provincial Planning and Investment Promotion Conference with great urgency and seriousness, and the work is now basically complete.

The Provincial People's Committee has focused on directing departments, agencies, and localities to coordinate comprehensively in preparing all aspects of the conference, especially the work, logistics, protocol, security, communication, and coordination with central ministries and agencies.

The province has essentially completed preparations for the announcement of the revised Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; simultaneously, it has reviewed and selected key projects to grant investment approval decisions, investment registration certificates, and signed memoranda of cooperation with strategic businesses and investors. The projects presented and awarded at the conference focused on priority investment areas such as strategic transportation infrastructure, industrial parks, urban development, land reclamation, logistics, high-quality tourism, trade and services, processing industries, high-tech agriculture , and renewable energy.

Simultaneously, the province proactively connected with and invited major domestic and foreign businesses and investors to participate in the conference. Through the preparation process, we are very pleased to receive the attention, support, and positive feedback from the business community regarding An Giang's new development direction.

The province has determined that this conference is not only an event to announce the planning but also a crucial step in transitioning from planning to action, from potential to concrete investment projects, creating new momentum for the province's socio-economic development in the coming period.

Reporter : Could you please tell us about the purpose and significance of the An Giang province's 2026 planning announcement and investment promotion conference, especially the message the province wants to convey to the business community and investors?

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong : It can be affirmed that the conference to announce the An Giang province's planning and investment promotion in 2026 is an event of special significance for the province in its new development phase.

The main purpose of the conference is to widely publicize the revised Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; thereby introducing the new development orientation, new spatial areas, and outstanding potentials and advantages of An Giang to the business community and domestic and foreign investors. Through the conference, the province hopes to concretize the plan with specific programs, projects, and investment cooperation commitments; creating conditions for effective connection between the government and businesses, and between the province's development orientation and the investment needs of investors.

This is also an opportunity for An Giang to showcase its priority areas for investment attraction, such as strategic transportation infrastructure, industrial parks, urban areas, land reclamation, logistics, high-quality tourism, trade and services, processing industries, high-tech agriculture, and renewable energy.

The biggest message the province wants to convey to the business community and investors is that An Giang is entering a new phase of development with a new mindset, a new environment, and a very high level of determination to act.

The province is committed to continuing to significantly improve the investment and business environment; building a government that supports and serves businesses; focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles and creating all favorable conditions for investors to confidently implement long-term, effective projects in the locality.

Reporter : Could you please tell us which sectors and fields An Giang province prioritizes in its planning to create momentum for economic growth? How is the provincial planning linked to the development strategy of the Mekong Delta region?

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong : In the revised Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, An Giang province has identified key priorities for developing sectors and fields with potential, competitive advantages, and the ability to create new growth drivers for the economy. The province prioritizes attracting investment in the development of strategic transportation infrastructure, logistics infrastructure, industrial parks, industrial clusters, new urban areas, marine economy, land reclamation, high-quality tourism, trade and services, processing industries, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, and border trade.

For the agricultural sector, the province is orienting its development towards modernity, ecology, application of science and technology, and increased added value linked to deep processing and brand building. At the same time, it focuses on developing the marine economy, logistics services, and tourism to become important economic sectors in the province's economic structure in the coming years. Simultaneously, An Giang prioritizes investment in the development of synchronous infrastructure, especially inter-regional transportation infrastructure, digital infrastructure, urban infrastructure, and infrastructure serving green transformation and digital transformation.

Regarding regional linkage orientation, the Provincial Planning is built on the basis of closely adhering to the National Master Plan and the Mekong Delta Regional Plan; ensuring the promotion of An Giang's role and position in the overall development space of the region. The province identifies strengthening linkages with localities in the region in terms of transportation infrastructure, logistics, agricultural value chains, trade, tourism, and marine economic development; while also promoting its role as a gateway connecting the Mekong Delta with Cambodia and other ASEAN countries.

Through this planning, An Giang aims for rapid and sustainable development; effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of the locality while making a positive contribution to the overall development strategy of the Mekong Delta region and the whole country.

Reporter : Could you please tell us, in terms of investment promotion, which key sectors and industries is An Giang province calling for investment to develop its socio-economic development? What specific preferential policies will be applied to encourage domestic and foreign businesses to invest in An Giang ?

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong : In its future development orientation, An Giang province will prioritize attracting large-scale projects with modern technology, that are environmentally friendly and capable of creating high added value and a significant ripple effect on the province's economy.

The province prioritizes investment attraction in key areas including strategic transportation infrastructure, industrial parks, industrial clusters, urban areas, land reclamation, logistics, trade and services, high-quality tourism, processing industries, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, and border trade.

In agriculture, the province prioritizes projects involving deep processing, high-tech applications, the development of value chains linked to raw material areas, exports, and the building of agricultural product brands. In the tourism sector, the province encourages eco-tourism, resort tourism, beach tourism, cultural tourism, and high-quality service complexes. Simultaneously, An Giang pays special attention to attracting investment in logistics infrastructure, seaports, warehouses, digital infrastructure, green transformation, and clean energy to create a foundation for the province's long-term development.

Regarding investment attraction policies, the province is committed to fully and promptly implementing preferential mechanisms and policies as stipulated by the Central Government; and proactively deploying various solutions to support businesses in the research and implementation of projects. Specifically, the province focuses on strongly reforming administrative procedures; shortening processing times; improving the efficiency of handling procedures related to investment, land, construction, and environment; and enhancing transparency and digital transformation in administrative procedures.

The province will focus on investing in improving transportation infrastructure, industrial park infrastructure, logistics, and infrastructure serving production and business; while maintaining a regular dialogue mechanism to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles for businesses and investors.

An Giang's overarching message is that the provincial government always stands alongside businesses; viewing the success of investors as the driving force for local development and creating all favorable conditions for businesses to confidently invest long-term and effectively in the province.
