The costumes of the Pa Di people in Muong Khuong, Lao Cai province are not as colorful as those of the Mong or Red Dao people..., but have their own unique features with the main indigo color and delicate motifs.
In Lao Cai, the Pa Di ethnic group has about 2,000 people, living mainly in the highland communes of Muong Khuong district.
In the colorful flower forest of Vietnamese ethnic groups, Pa Di women's costumes have a very unique beauty.
The most impressive thing is the headdress called "khun tang" (in Pa Di language). Legend has it that in the past, Pa Di people often lived together, attached to each other in a big house. Later, when there were too many children, they had to move out to live separately. To remind them of their roots, parents, and clan, the Pa Di people used the image of the roof to create the traditional hat of their people.
The main color of Pa Di women's costumes is indigo blue, with green and black accents. The shirt is designed short with a slit on the armpit, buttons on the right side, and the body of the shirt hugs the waist. The highlight is the decorative pattern with tiny silver buttons attached together, forming a diagonal line from the collar down to the hips.
Silver beads and silver buttons are attached to the collar surface. Large silver buttons are attached to fasten the buckle at both ends, creating a highlight for the outfit.

Unique motifs decorated by hand have created a unique feature on the costumes, demonstrating the ingenuity and diligence of Pa Di women in preserving the traditional culture of the nation.
Proud of their unique costumes, many Pa Di women choose to wear them every day, especially during holidays and Tet...
