Anh Đức has been appointed head coach of Thanh Hóa.

Former national team player Nguyen Anh Duc will become the head coach of Thanh Hoa FC from round 25 of the V.League 2025/26 season.

On May 29th, Dong A Thanh Hoa Club completed the procedures to change the head coach position. Accordingly, Mr. Mai Xuan Hop was demoted to assistant coach, while Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc was appointed as the new head coach.

Nguyen Anh Duc, born in 1985, previously played for Becamex Binh Duong FC (the predecessor of Becamex Ho Chi Minh City FC) and coached the team during the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. Throughout his playing career, Anh Duc never announced his retirement. He officially transitioned to coaching for the first time at Long An FC, and later at Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc (formerly).

The former Vietnamese national team player also served as an assistant coach to Park Hang-seo in the Vietnamese national team. He holds a Pro coaching certificate issued by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The news of coach Anh Đức joining Thanh Hóa FC came as a surprise. At this point, the V.League only has two rounds left. The Thanh Hóa team currently has 25 points in the standings. While not yet officially safe from relegation, Thanh Hóa has a significant advantage, being 5 points ahead of Đà Nẵng FC, who are in the play-off position. In the final two rounds, Thanh Hóa will face Ninh Bình and then Đà Nẵng.

This season, Thanh Hoa has changed its head coach twice. First, Choi Won Kwon (South Korea) left, and his assistant Mai Xuan Hop took over after the first 10 rounds.

Meanwhile, Becamex TP.HCM, the former team of new coach Anh Đức, is also battling to avoid relegation alongside Da Nang. They currently have 21 points, just one point more than their rivals before round 25.
