Rare photo of Emperor Pu Yi being expelled from the Forbidden City

Pu Yi was the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty as well as in the history of feudal China. On November 5, 1924, he was forced to leave the Forbidden City.

Accordingly, the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty and also the last in the history of feudal China packed his luggage and hurriedly left the royal palace.

General Phung Ngoc Tuong demanded that Pu Yi and all members of the royal family, palace maids, and eunuchs leave the Forbidden City within 3 hours.

Therefore, Pu Yi and everyone in the palace hurriedly packed their luggage. The last emperor of the Qing Dynasty ordered the palace maids and eunuchs to bring along many valuable belongings.

According to some sources, Pu Yi is said to have taken more than 80 boxes of belongings with him when he left the Forbidden City.

More than 470 eunuchs and more than 100 palace maids had their luggage checked before leaving the Forbidden City so that they could not take any treasures out of the palace.
