On the afternoon of August 21, at Beta Cinemas (HCMC), the Vietnamese Short Film Competition - Vietnamese 2025 concluded with a closing ceremony and award ceremony, marking a successful season with many new creations. The competition was organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper in coordination with the Vietnam Cinema Promotion and Development Association.
The event was attended by members of the final jury including: Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Cinema Promotion and Development Association, President of the Jury; Director Nguyen Quang Dung; Director - Producer Ly Hai; Producer - Actress Thu Trang... Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City also attended.

After nearly two months of launching (from May 23 to July 15), the organizing committee received 128 works, of which 114 were eligible. After the preliminary round, 20 excellent works entered the final round. Notably, this year, for the first time, the documentary film category was added, attracting a large number of young filmmakers to participate.
In general terms of quality, the jury commented that this year's works are diverse in theme and style, from humane stories reflecting social life to bold cinematic experiments.
In particular, many films made a strong impression thanks to their creative storytelling, meticulous filming techniques and profound messages, showing the potential and dedication of a new generation of filmmakers.

In the end, from the 20 finalists, the jury awarded 9 awards in two categories for films and individuals.
Among them, the work Mam nho (director and screenwriter: Bui Duc Anh) was named 3 times at the awards: Best Short Film, Best Director and Best Actor (actor Nguyen Vu).

Mam Nho is the story of Tuan - a man who must learn to balance, accept and face many challenges in taking care of his mother who has Alzheimer's disease.
The film brings a meaningful message, memories are like seeds, sow seeds, take care of them, preserve them so they can flourish, try to create many beautiful memories with loved ones so that every moment is not a regret, so that later you don't have to say "if only".

In the film category, the organizers also honored Best Documentary - Wind Shoes (director Tran Vu Linh, screenwriter Tran Phuong Vu), recording the fate of leprosy patients at Quy Hoa Hospital ( Gia Lai ).
Most Creative Short Film - Little Fish (Director and Screenwriter: Dao Hoang Duy) told from the perspective of a fish, a metaphor for freedom and unintentional kindness. Most Viral Film - Happiness Cards: Invitation from the Dark (Director and Screenwriter: Chu Dieu Linh) with a story following a young female writer and the message that every miracle has a price.


In individual categories, Best Actress belongs to La Nguyen Qui Anh (film On the top of the cabinet, under the tree pot, kept in the heart ), Best Director of Photography - Dinh Minh Hai (film Sending to mother of mother ) and Best Screenwriter - Ho Minh Hieu (film Sweet things stay ).
This year, in addition to the competition categories, the organizers also organized a series of Cinetalk and Cinetour activities.
Three Cinetalk episodes gathered many famous faces such as director Nguyen Quang Dung, producer Thu Trang, entrepreneur - investor Minh Beta, DOP K'Linh... discussing the journey of young filmmakers, the secret to creating box office hits and framing techniques.
At the same time, Cinetour went to many universities, bringing practical workshops from director Tran Thanh Huy, producer Tuong Vi, actor - director Huynh Lap... helping students directly exchange with experts, creating a vibrant learning atmosphere.
