According to The Guardian , Anthropic's new valuation shows a dramatic shift in the balance of power within the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, reflecting the growing influence of the chatbot Claude both commercially and culturally.

This agreement is also expected to significantly impact the wave of initial public offerings (IPOs) this year, including major competitors like OpenAI and SpaceX.

Anthropic stated that the new funding round, led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, is proof that its AI models and technological development vision are gaining ground.

"Claude is becoming an indispensable tool for our expanding global customer base. We are constantly striving to make products like Claude Code and Cowork more useful, powerful, and flexible to meet user needs," said Anthropic Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao.

In addition to focusing more on enterprise customers and programming services compared to some competitors targeting general users, Anthropic also builds a company image that prioritizes AI safety.

Earlier this month, one of the Anthropic co-founders attended an event also attended by Pope Leo XIV. The event raised concerns about the risks AI could pose and called for increased regulation of the technology.
