Apple introduced its artificial intelligence (AI) called Apple Intelligence last year, initially supporting only English. The company later announced that it would soon expand support to include new languages including French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese, along with Indian English and Singaporean English.
In the company's recently released Q4/2024 financial report, CEO Tim Cook confirmed that Apple will update the above language group for Apple Intelligence in the iOS 18 update released in April. Along with adding more languages, Apple's artificial intelligence will be officially launched in European countries, including all 27 members of the European Union (EU). The main reason for the delay is the impact of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) issued by this union, but only affects iPhone and iPad. MacBook models with Apple Intelligence were sold in the EU before.
Apple Intelligence still won't be available in Vietnamese next April
Many sources confirm that the update to be released in April will be iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4. In this version, Siri is said to integrate Apple Intelligence more deeply to be able to understand users at a higher level, learn from interactions, remember preferences, access data on the screen... to give accurate, highly personalized responses.
Previously, in an announcement in September 2024, shortly after the launch of iOS 18, the company said that many languages would be available with Apple Intelligence from 2025, including Vietnamese. However, in the sharing part of the financial report announcement, Vietnamese was not mentioned in the language pack that will be available next April.
Vietnamese has never been a priority language for Apple. Even now, after many years of launching Siri and CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly affirmed that Vietnam is a fast-growing market for the company, Apple's virtual assistant still does not have Vietnamese. Even the Vietnamese typing on iPhone and MacBook has been having errors for many years but the company has not taken any action to fix or handle it.
